RESETTING THE LAMP TIME
When replacing the lamp, use the following to reset the lamp time.
1. If the Self-Diagnostic screen is already displayed, proceed to step 4.
If not, Power off (Set to Standby mode).
2. Press DISPLAY Channel 5 Sound Volume -
3. To access the Lamp reset, press 5 until the TIME category displays.
4. Press 1 until the RSET item displays.

Hi, If lamp in tv has not been replaced in last 3-4 years then check lamp and replace it. Did tv showed lamp replacement requires warning/ message on screen before going to shut down? Sounds like the ballast has gone out. Samsung recommends replacing the smps board(power supply board) when you replace the ballast because it is the smps that takes out the ballast. replacing just the ballast ,machine may work ok for a short time but will destroy the new ballast fairly quickly.
Sounds like you need to replace your lamp and the tv will work fine until the new lamp goes out. I have had three lamps since Nov 2006 in mine and I have a notice coming up on my Panasonic saying I need to change the lamp right now. Which is strange, because before there was no warning, it worked fine and then when we went to turn it on again, it just did not work until the lamp was replaced.
