3rd generation ipod won't turn on!!!

I have a 3rd generation 30g ipod. I haven't used it in a while because my charger broke and it took me a while to get a new one. Now that I have a new one finally, I tried to charge it but I couldn't even get the thing to turn on! I also tried charging it on my ihome, but that wouldn't work either. I tried resetting it many times, and it still won't even turn on. No pictures come up or anything. Can anyone help me??

Ugh. Yes. The same exact thing. It died, and I just never got around to plugging it in and now it won't turn on. It is soo frustrating! This is the 3rd iPod I've had... their care is disapointing and very unhelpful.

Have you tried using the cable and plugging it in to your computer? If it doesn't come on at that point it could be that the battery can't be charged anymore. Lithium Ion batteries will go bad if they completely discharge and are left in a dead state for a long period of time. You may need to replace the battery. You can find aftermarket battery kits online for as little as 10 dollars and they come with the tools needed to open the iPod.

Cheers

I've been having the same problem, and these solutions do not work for me. What I've tried was making it show up in the iTunes- forcing it into disk mode, etc. to do so- then restoring it, and when it happened once before to me, I just waited a week or so and it turned on again.

The first question I'm not sure. Is that the wireless network system that works with the wall outlets for power and networking?

The answer to the second question is No. You can only transfer playlists from ITunes into the IPod. Make sure your playlists are created in ITues before transferring.

My ipod wont charge

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

If your ipod won't charge, the fault should either be from the battery or from the means by which you are charging it.

If the battery is very weak, then it might not come-up when using charger or PC to charge it. Leave the ipod in the charge for about 6 hours and it should come up if the battery is weak.

But if it doesn't come up, then you have to check your charger. Test your charger with a friend's ipod. If the charge works with your friend's ipod then it means your battery is the cause of the problem.

The essence of the above test is to diagnose and get to the root of the problem. So that a precise/concise solution can be proffered.

I hope the above is clear. If not, please let me know.

Regards.

I want to know which generation is the Ipod 30G model A1136, thanks

There are two 5th gen iPods, A1136 model is the older 2005 model, not the later 2006 model.

Here is Apples link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#ipodfifth2 which will show the differences, but not by model number. The reason I know this model number is the first 5th gen 2005 is because I have one. Also older 2005 should have '2005' engraved on rear.

Apple ipod nano 4gb will not charge.....

Hi! Use only orignal ipod charger provided by apple. Dont buy any other spurious charger and i think there might be chances of some problem with your usb port or your firewire. Try to plug the fire wire in a diffrent usb port or try on a diffrent PC.

Do you have an IPod charger that plugs into an elecrical outlet?

See if you can charge the battery that way.

You could try another USB port.

Mains charger

i contacted apple support and emailed them with the problem and as it is still under warranty, they are going to send me a packaging box to send back to them so they can see what the problem is. if they can't repair it they will give me a replacement ipod. i have only had it 6 months and it has been working fine, but lately i cannot charge it by mains or car charger, only usb cable.

Ipod won't turn on

Try to turn on your ipod by holding the center button and the menu button both at the same time for about 6-10 seconds. Sometimes the hard drive on the ipod likes to freeze and just needs to be reset.

First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the left, here's how you reset:

You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will shut off, then back on.

Ipod 30g

To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including: ipodnano3.jpg ipodclassic.jpg icon_ipod_5g.gif ipodnano2.jpg ipodnano.jpg ipodphoto.gif ipodg4.gif ipodmini.gif
  • iPod nano (3rd generation)
  • iPod classic
  • iPod (5th generation)
  • iPod nano (2nd generation)
  • iPod nano
  • iPod with color display (iPod photo)
  • iPod (Click Wheel)
  • iPod mini
  • iPod mini (2nd generation)
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
