The FEX831CS combo is destroying my clothes

I understand your Electrolux gas dryer, model# EIGD55HIW, is snagging and tearing your clothes. There is a possibility that the temperature is too high and you are overdrying your clothes. Make sure to dry your clothes on the correct temperatures and correct times. The other possibility is, the finish inside of your dryer has been scratched or chipped. This can cause a snagging or tearing of clothes. To prevent further scratching and chipping of the drum finish, make sure to always remove any foreign objects from pockets before laundering, as well as make sure zippers and fasteners are not hitting the inside of the drum. Kristen-follow the hoses-water comes into machine at the water supply valves-hot and cold which go into the tub-then there is a drain pump which is connected to the tub via a hose-the out put of the drain pump is connected to the drain through the back of the machine usually at the bottom and this goes into your houses' drain-follow the hoses and you shall reach laundry success-cheers Denny

Leaking transmission. I would replace the unit.

it may be snagging clothes on a sharp edge or flashing on the plastic light assembly overhead of the door. you might just need to take a small piece of fine sandpaper and remove the burr or sharp edge thats snagging stuff..

also one or both of the rollers in the front may be worn, allowing the drum to bear down on the seal more, opening a gap at the bottom to grab your clothes then pulling them around with it, you just happen to catch it when its stopped and sitting still just hanging there.. while u have it apart u might as well check the rest of the rotating parts out for wear, etc and replace while you have it opened up..

This is a one piece unit. It does not come apart. Use and appliance hand truck with straps to secure. You will need at least 2 people to get unit out, heavy. I used to deliver appliances.

If you try to wash too many items with the water level set to low it is hard on the drive sysem and will kick out the motor.
When the motor resets it should work again but its very bad for the motor so II would try not to do it again.

You may have something between your basket (the area where you put your clothes) and your tub (the part that holds all the water in. Check all of the holes in your basket to see if you have something sticking/ protruding out of one of them. You might also have a hole that has been bent casuing a rough edge. Next pull back the edge of your boot (the gray ,rubber part in the front) Do you have any forighn objects in there? Finnaly for the washer, check the bottom of the door. A rough area on the bottom can cause the same problem. You might also want to check your dryer. Over time the seals (the gray rings in the front and back when you look in your dryer can be worn or have a forign object caught in them. Both will cause clothes to snag and tear.

Check the lint trap on the dryer. We had the same problem and it was because we put the lent trap in backwards.
