My simpletech signature driver 320 is not recognized by my PC

My simpletech signature driver 320 is not being recognized by my PC. What can I do?

    Mine was working fine and then i noticed it was off. the power cord wasnt working so i switched the power cord with a new one and the drive turned on but vista said i didnt have the drivers. where ar the driver downloads??

    I had my computer in one place, and had to move it while i was rearranging my room.

    When I plugged the USB back in it was not being read and it still wont

    it makes a stange beeping noise for a few seconds, then stops.

    My computers just onwt recognize it.

I had the same type of problem and found when I took the cover off that the harddrive worked loose from the plug. Pushed back into socket and reassembled, works great.

I cannot open any of my files on my signature mini


If anyone else has been using the hard drive, they may have changed the permission settings or encrypted them.
Another consideration, did you log in as an administrator? Was your "User Account" setting changed from Administrator to "Limited"?

Is the signature mini hard drive formatted to the same file allocation table setting as the OS you're plugged into?

Upgraded to win 7, now the black cherry, Signature 320 is no longer recognized and will not download a driver, is one available for Win 7, will not run in compatability settings.


No driver is required to use the drive. Try another cable or another port on the computer. If you are using it bus-powered, try using a USB "Y" cable as some computers cannot provide enough power through one port. I plug my Simpletech Signature Mini hard drive in but than I don't know what to do from there.


When you plug the drive in, Windows should recognize it and make it immediately available for your use.

To confirm this, click Start then Computer and it should show up as a device with removable storage. If you click on the Signature drive, you will see the contents of the drive and you can use it just as ou would your "C:" drive.

USB problem



i) connect it at the backside of your computer(in the usb ports), mostly these(usb with huge space) are not compatible with usb ports on the frontside or front panel of your computer tower...

Computer doesn't recognize the external drive


I asume the connection is via an USB?
Try another usb-port and see if that helps, if not try to connect the disc on another PC (maybe a friends pc) and see is that pc recognize the disc.
