I had the same problem-- XP was not able to recognize my Zen Mozaic—and have solved it.
Basically, I updated the driver with my Win XP install disk in a drive and told the wizard to look for drivers in that drive/disk.
You can start by opening Device manager (right click on My Computer and choose Properties). Choose the Device Manager from the Hardware tab. Locate where your Zen is found (on mine, it was Other Devices with yellow question marks). Right click on it and choose Update Driver.
The wizard first asks to search the internet, say no. Next, check the radio button next to “install from a specific location (Advanced)”. Then, check “search in these locations” and check search removable media (…CD-ROM…). Have your Win XP install disk inserted and click next. It should find the MTP driver that was missing. I can now see my Mozaic and copy to it.
For more information, check out this Creative web site:
Here, you basically make sure all your media player drivers are up to date—they assume you WANT to update to Media Play 11. I tried all that and it did not work outside of the XP install disk driver update above.

I had a same problem some time ago. If you don't see your mosaic in My Computer and your problems are with a driver, I think you have to check your hardwares (Control Panel - Add Hardware), mark Zen Mosaic and re-istall MTP Device. Everything will be OK. If you see it in My Computer, I think you have to try freeze your Mosaic. And If it doesn't help, bring it back to the shop. :)

I know this sounds silly, answering a month old question with this suggestion, but...have you'll rebooted your computer? I installed the software and struggled with getting my computer to recognize the device for quite some time. It kept telling me "no device detected." I rebooted and presto. No more problems.
