Question about Garmin GPS II Plus GPS Receiver

GPS II Plus - memory battery low

Please tell me exactly where the memory battery is located. I have the GPS open and nothing I see looks like a battery. What am I looking at? The soldered wiring is attached to a round something, but it is not a battery. What am I missing? Do you have a diagram to spellit out for me and can you show me how to fix it?

Thanks,
Sheila

It is the thin round thingy that sticks up from the board next to the white plug

Why wouldn't my ifinder h2o c gps not pick up any satalite signal

The most common reasons are thus
1) You do not have the right PORT and BAUD set
Consult the manual for the software.
2) You are noit in a location where the sky is visible to the unit)
move outside and away from buildings or electrical items
3) Your battery power is too low to get a fix

4) nThe SIIRF chip is damaged

TomTom will not charge battery, have tried in car and on mains. Indicator light is on but unable to switch on, I have tried to reset but no joy.

1) Even if the battery is not able to keep the charge, it should work ok if it is connected to the charger or the docking station, since any of these two methods provides constant power. Does your GPS work fine if it is connected to a charger cable?

2) I have seen some reports related to the battery not being able to hold the charge, especially with GPS that are older. How old is your GPS?
The procedure for changing the battery is a bit long and involves opening your GPS, removing the internal battery and replacing it. Of course, you'll need to get a new battery first. Also, opening your GPS will void the waranty, but I assume your GPS is old enough to be out of the waranty anyways, but this is your call. If you think you will be comfortable opening the GPS, the detailed steps are in a word document with detailed instructions and pictures that you can download from here (the instructions are too long to post):
http://www.filestube.com/398bf3cce81ab36e03ea,g/TomTom-GO-x20.html

Please report back the exact TomTom GPS model you have and I'll tell you where you can get a battery replacemment and how much it will cost.

Im looking for the manual instruction book for the garmin gps 2 plus receiver

Hi,
Here is a link to the manual you are looking for in PDF format. You will have to have a PDF Reader program on your computer to be able to open the manual. If you need a PDF Reader you can get that for free by going to:

Recently when returning from a trip my C550 giving keptme the message "satellite unable to locate" (not the exact words) This went on for a week or more but suddenly started locating me from the satellite....

Low battery power is generally r4esponsible for loss of signal or low signal. Charge itr fully before use and plug into car power source ONLY AFTER staring the engine so as to avoid spike deamage. The car charger cannot fully charge the battery it is justn sufficient to maintain a level of charge . If the battery gets too low it cannot maintain a constant signal.

My GPS 2Plus does not work on batteries but does DC

Use your USB cable that came with the device to connect it to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on. The internal battery in the GPS should charge. It will take a few hour to charge. If the battery doesn't charge then the device will need to be returned to the manufacturer to have the internal battery replaced.

No problem, but we just bought a Garmin 255W GPS and was wondering "how long to keep on re-charge to get the full 5 hour usage from the battery"? I have searched everywhere and the owners...

The manual for the nuvi255W, which can be downloaded from Garmin.com, says it takes 4 hours to recharge a low battery. You can do it buy hooking it up to your computer which would have to be booted up.

GPS 48 MEMORY LOSE

You can go to batteries plus or wherever and buy a new 3 volt battery for it. You will have to unsoder the old one and soder the new one back in. Original was a VL1220, I replaced with a Dantona Lith 1-2VLS

Cant get the menu display on my pin 570

maybe there is no memory caused by a flat or stuffed lithium battery or battery charging circuit in the pin 570.
fix:
leave unit to charge for 24 h
if the battery still dosnt charge because it is over discharged, then you may be able to push some charge in it after the battery is unplugged, after opening the case, and removing the circuit board.
