Red light stays on but unit does not turn on from the Nintendo ds

If you constantly charge it when it doesn't need to be charged this will happen, or the lack of battery power. Don't charge any device unless it is necessary.

My nintendo ds wont charge and the light wont go red wen its charging i think i need a new battery

Before getting a new battery, make sure your charger isn't the thing that's broken. To do this, borrow a charger that works good from a friend and try charging your DS. If it doesn't work, than get a new battery.

My ds lite wont turn on but it charges fine

if your ds is about 2 years old, it's probably time to change the battery. even though the battery is rechargeable, it wont hold a charge as it gets older. no matter how long you keep it on the charger, the battery is truly dead and it wont turn on. if anything, replace the battery. if your ds is brand spanking new, then you probably didn't leave it on the charger long enough to begin with.

hope this helped
