Re: Power Only

I have the audiovox sir-pnp3 receiver and I slowly started to have the problem where the "X" symbol started to appear in the bottom left hand corner of the screen and the display read "Antenna Not Detected". At first I would futz with it and eventually the error would go away and the receiver would play but last night if finally crapped out.

If you have a volt meter first check to see if there is a voltage (6 volts) across the center pin and shield coming from the back of the docking station's antenna (ANT) connector. If the receiver does not sense that 6 volts have been 'sunk' by the antenna it assumes that the antenna is not plugged in.

Solution: I pulled off the back cover (two screws and two of those locking tabs in the upper corners) and soldered a jumper from the center pin of the antenna cable to a pad labeled 'ANT' (within an inch of the antenna cable). The sir-pnp3 appears to use a 3 layer PC board and the path from the 6 volt source to the center pin either breaks or forms a cold joint with time/wear. This path is in the center of the 3 layers and impossible to directly repair directly jumping resolves the problem without any noticeable signal loss.

If questions try me at for I do not plan on checking this site.

XM Receiver: When hooked up to the home kit it will show antenna and will not pick up a signal. When hooked into the car jack it works ok. I replaced the receiver mount about 3 weeks ago and it worked ok...

Hi Kldeaton,

If you can do it, try your car mount in the house, as long as you can supply power via the car plug (12-volts DC). If it does the same thing as the home kit, then you more than likely have an intermittent antenna connection on your home antenna.

Also, check the location of your antenna vs any obstructions, such as trees. You may have the reception worked out so that you have signal from the antenna, but it is "breaking up" from a connector or cable short or open condition. Check the coax for any chaffing also. Let me know if you need more help. Thanks.

Regards, Bill

You need to call sirius @ 1-888-GET-SIRIUS (438-7474) and they will remotly reset the radio for you. This has happened to me twice and this is the only way i have found to fix it.

This is a very old radio, and your antenna could be shot too. Try another antenna first.

Delphi SKYFi3 XM Radio Repeater

You begin by setting up your existing (((XM))) antenna the one that came in your home kit (not included in repeater package) in a location that gets good reception of the (((XM))) signal. This may be outside, or on a south facing window sill. This antenna gets plugged into the rear of the Delphi (((XM))) Radio Signal Repeater Transmitter. A power jack is right next to the antenna connection, and should be plugged in and to the wall with the included power supply. There is also a "PWR OUT" selector switch on the rear of the unit which allows you to control the strength of the signal transmitted from the unit.

Once the power and antenna are attached, both blue indicator lights will light up on the face of the unit. The blue antenna indicator will light up only to signify that the antenna is attached correctly. It does not let you know whether your antenna is in a location receiving a good (((XM))) signal or not. You will have to look at the signal strength indicator on your (((XM))) radio receiver do determine best location for the (((XM))) antenna.

Once you have this setup, place the Repeater Antenna close to your existing (((XM))) Radio and plug it into your antenna jack on the (((XM))) radio cradle. This connector is identical to your (((XM))) Home Antenna provided with all Boom boxes and (((XM))) home receivers and kits so compatibility is guaranteed. The Repeater Receiver Antenna does not require any separate power connections. Hope this helps!

Sirius satellite radio constantly shows "acquiring signal"

it could be the connection on the back of the reciever that could be bad. I would call sirius and see if your reciever is under warranty still, if not i can almost garauntee that your tuner antenna input is bad, if your antenna is brand new.

Antenna Connection Problem

I have the same exact problem. I took a small needle nose pliers and pressed the antenna connection on the TAO radio. I put it back into the cradle of my Altec Lansing amplified speakers. It works again. For how long we will see.

Delphi xm2go internal antenna

Don't use the wearable antenna - reputed to not work well - was not a good design idea - I don't think any of the other receivers have this feature if that tells you anything. Record music you like on the myXM feature, and play that when you would otherwise want to receive on the antenna. If you are listening to live news, etc, there may be no good solution. (I have read there is an antenna headset, but don't know much about it, but some reports that it works.)

The unit has an internal antenna (that is really poor) that is activated when you unplug the external antenna. This is why you get some signal when you unplug the unit.

I assume the problem is the antenna itself.

My suggesion is that you charge up the unit, take it to a place that sells XM equipment AND has a demo unit working. Be sure to take your docking station with you (it has the plug in for an external antenna). Ask the sales rep to please connect your unit to an external antenna to test your unit as you are trying to determine if your antenna is bad. If it works, you need a new antenna (cable may be cut on the inside or antenna may have water/weather damage). If it does not, then there is an electrical issue inside the unit and the unit itelf will need replacement/repair.

SIRIUS Sportster "Acquiring Signal"

Let me save you $30.00. A new antenna will not help, nor will cleaning the contacts. I just did both of those and it did not help. I have mine in the freezer right now cooling it down. Sirius told me that I should not leave it in the car because it gets to hot. They told me to buy another unit....
