Right click the desktop, highlight 'arrange icons by' and untick 'lock web items on desktop' if it is ticked.

If you are running XP, click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

Follow the prompts and select a bold date back to a time earlier than this problem occurred. It will require a reboot, but stands a good chance of resolving your issue.

It will not remove anything from your computer, but you may have to re-install any software recently installed.

If you get it fixed and then re-install some software, the problem may come back. That would let you know the software is causing the problem.

How do I remove the background colour from desktop icons

Just click right on the desktop ..and select desktop , than select on the down page the customize desktop and select web (the one in the right ) ..
If you see a web page checked in the tab .. remove it ..and the important thing ..remove the check mark for the lock desktop items cause this is the one responsible for that color present under the icons..and click apply ..and OK ..restart and repeat the action if it seam not willing to do that ..or select windows XP theme again ..and this way probably will default it ..but the way to remove it to unlock the desktop items ..

My computer desktop icons and task manager cannot be seen. i dont know how to fix this. can you hel me please? thanks.

If you switch to a different monitor, can you now see what you expected to see?
If not, then it's probably the video-adapter inside your computer that has stopped working.

Or, did you set the colour of your "wallpaper" to match the colour of the icons?

The colours on my brother dcp110c dont print out the colour i have chosen on screen. i.e. whichever yellow I choose it prints out green and the other colours are the wrong shade. anyone know how I can sort...

Hello,

When an inkjet printer stops printing the right colors, it's because one of the colored inks are not coming through properly.

To clear this up, you'll want to run a couple cleaning cycles.

Press the "ink" button on the DCO-110C
Press the "set" button twice and then start
You will now get a print out which is supposed to have 4 blocks of colors.
Follow the on screen instructions to go through the cleaning.

You can repeat the cleaning up to 5 times, anything more is a waste of ink.

If the color does not clear up at all after 5 cleanings you need to either bring the printer to a technician or replace it.

Thanks,

Pat

Desktop Icons have shadows and a blue box around title. How do i get rid of this ?

This border on desktop icons can be created when the desktop items have been locked, to unlock the desktop web items right click on an empty area of your desktop. Now select Arrange icons by and uncheck 'Lock web items on desktop' if it has a little tick next to it. If you did not have a tick here then Right click on your my computer icon and view its properties, now click the advanced tab and then on the settings button under performance. Now on the visual effects tab scroll down the list of effects to 'use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop' and put a tick in the box next to it, then click ok. This should remove the shadow border from your desktop icons.

Sounds like your colour settings are wrong. RIGHT click on the desktop and click properties. Click the last tab which is display settings or settings. Check the colour is set to 32 bit as opposed to say 16 bit or 256 colours. If you post specifically what OS you're running, I can probably offer more in depth help if this doesn't suffice.

Canon cp330 printer otom part of picture not printing color properly

Have you ever wondered if your printer has run out of a colour? Here's a simple way to check.
Steps:
1. Go into Microsoft Word.
2. Create four small rectangles.
3. Colour one of them black, another pink, the next turquoise, and the last yellow.
4. Print!
5. If all of the colours have come out clearly, it means you have enough of each colour. If one or more are not clear, you need to change them.
6. Save the file in My Documents to run whenever you need to test your printer cartridges.
7. Run occasionally to work printhead if printer is not used very often.
Tips:
1. To create rectangles in Microsoft Word, bring up the Drawing toolbar on "View" then "Toolbars", and press the rectangle button. To colour them in, right-click on them and choose "Format Autoshape" then choose the colour for the fill.
