Re: PC didnt detect the lightscribe function
Clean Drive: commercial cd/dvd cleaner + air compressed can with narrow pipe inserted into device to reach lens.
Update you sw from http://www.lightscribe.com/ (Control panel, diagnostic tool, application)
be sure service is started: as Administrator go to Control panel/Administrative tools/Services double-click
on Lightscribe Service, and if it says disabled change it to automatic,
then "start service" in the left panel. If is already started and set to
automatic stop and restart it you don't have to reboot to see results.
It worked for me on HP6710b with internal drive and with liteon external burner

The LightScribe feature of DVD burners with this capability requires that you are using burner software that has this function. Verify that the software you are using is lightscribe compatible. The software that comes with this drive(Nero) should be lightscribe compatible. After you burn the disc you do need to fip the disc over and the re-insert into the drive so that a label can be etched into the disc. The lightscribe discs look identical on both sides so only one side you can burn info and the other side is for the label so make sure that it is inserted on the right side for each process. If you put the disc in on the wrong side the initial data burn will not work. Also sometimes burners will have issues with certain brands of discs so you may also want to try a different brand and see if that helps. And another thing that you can try is updating the drive to the latest firmware. The firmware is to the drive kind of like what Windows is to your PC. Sometimes updating this file will fix problems like this. Here is a link to the firmware of your model. http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
You can download the file and run it to update your firmware. Caution: Before running the firmware make sure it is the correct file for your drive! There are a couple of variations to your model number and this one might not be the correct one. If you install the wrong file you could damage your drive inoperable or defeat some of it's features. I hope this information is of help with your problem and thanks for using FixYa.
You have to troubleshoot your PC. Left click setting, control, and the add hardware wizard. And follow the instruction prompted by the add hardware wizard. You will be prompted to troubleshoot the Dvd hjardware and find if this working properly. You must also troubleshoot your audio drive. You can troubleshoot further by going to the Systems menu at the Control panel by left clicking on it, then Device Manager. You will also see the devices installed in your PC. Take attention to Sound, Video by left click and right click to open and find the status. I understand that you have already installed the sound driver software. If not, get your download at the Inter net by the typing at the Search Engine blank (Download for Sound driver software) and left clicking on it to go to the download site. Once your download is completed,. have it installed in your PC. Hope this will solve your problem.
