Tap F8 as the computer is turning on and you'll enter Advanced Settings. Start Windows in Safe Mode.
Then do a System Restore back to a point before the problem began.

Hope this helps

With another computer create a bootable Flash drive using the following program.

Download Ophcrack

Use Rufus to burn the ISO to your flash drive.

Roboot your computer, start tapping F12 just before the Leno Splash screen starts until the boot menu comes up.

Boot to USB and Ophcrack should start up on its own, allow the program to run and it will do the work for you.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L505D. When I log into windows, the cursor and logo ring lock up after a few seconds. I have to force close and reboot in safe mode to use laptop. Could this be a bad hard...

As you are suggesting that you can work ok in safe mode it sounds like a start-up application may be the issue.
Try a diagnostic startup
Click >Start button and type msconfig
For XP >Start >Run type msconfig

From the window which appears select diagnostic start-up

If this allows you to work ok you need to repeat the process this time rather than diagnostic startup in the msconfig console go to the startup tab and begin selecting each item in turn and restarting.

Once you get to the startup item which is locking the machine up search for the associated program and uninstall it.
That should resolve your issue

After installing a game on my acer extansa 5235, my laptop then switched itself off. Then when starting up my laptop, it comes up with the 'start windows normally' or 'launch startup repair (recommended)....

Hi There.

1. Power off the laptop
2. Power on and immediately after pushing the power button hit the F8 key continually until a DOS Window opens allowing you to boot to Safe Mode.
3. Using the Up and Down arrows, select Safe Mode with Networking
4. When you are at your desktop, do the following.
a. Start Button
b. All Programs
c. Accessories
d. System Restore

Once at System Restore, choose a time to restore to before you installed the game. Restore the computer to that time and it should return to normal.

It probably goes without saying, but I would NOT install that game again.

I can't sign into my fb page. I am on my Daughter's computer & got on yesterday

are you sure you're typing your account information in correctly? Double-check that the Caps Lock key is not active. When you were last on your daughter's computer, did you sign out before closing the web browser? Have you run a virus/spyware scan recently with an updated antivirus/antispyware program?
There are 3 possible reasons why you cannot log into your facebook page- 1) Something is causing you to not type your account information into facebook correctly. 2) Someone else got onto your daughter's computer after you used it, and if you left yourself logged in, changed your password. 3) A malicious program or hacker has changed your facebook password information, so they may use it for their own purposes.
For all three, I would recommend these steps: first, try typing in your facebook account information again, being meticulously careful to input your information in correctly. double and triple-check the caps lock key. second, run a virus scan on your computer with updated antivirus software. third, after a failed attempt to imput your account information, beneath the text box where you would normally imput your password, there will be an option saying "Forgot your Password?" in small text. This will lead you to a page where you must answer the security questions you entered when you set up the account- but once answered correctly, will allow you to reset your password.
Have a good day, hope this helps!
