Check for Rust/Corrosion at the point where the Ground Cable bolts to the Frame/Ground. Remove bolt or nut and sand the area with 80 grit sand paper, and the eye on the Grounding Cable,,, apply a liberal amount of Axel grease to the entire connection, AFTER reconnecting !

what does stopped working mean .
1: shifter fails to select 5 gear H pattern slot.
2: grinds?
3: cant force it to 5th with clutch depressed.? is free play at spec?
4: raise front wheels off ground, can you get in to 5th now? keyout and running?
5: can you get into 5th parked engine off, and select 5th and then start car in 5th with clutch depresses first step. then slowly very slowly attempt to move car starting in 5th, but dont finish, just feel the gear, feel that its there and not neutral.

It's located at the front of the engine usually gold and on the left hand side of the rocker arm cover almost directly across from your distributor cap. Can't miss it.

It is below the A/C compressor, above the power
steering pump. It's the silver pump in the picture below with the 3 gold bolts in it. You'll need to remove the belts, water pump pulley,timing cover, it will help to get to stuff thru the passenger side wheel well.
