Turn the computer over.

Remove the optical-drive security screw.

Insert a scribe into the notch and push it to the side to release the drive from the bay.

Slide the drive out of the bay.

To reinstall the optical drive, slide the drive into the drive bay and snap it into place. Then replace the optical-drive security screw.

My burner will not burn cd's anymore. It still plays cd's fine as well as play and burn dvd's fine. I see no errors in hardware setup. It is a nec dvd +- RW ND 6650A that came with my Dell Inspiron E1705.

The CD Burner / Player / DVD Burner are all different heads. If the Dell Inspiron E1705 is an older model it is most likely you have reached the end of it's usable life for the CD burner part. If it is new the CD burner is most likely defective and hopefully warrantied. Otherwise these CD/DVD units can be replaced relatively inexpensively (as compared to buying a new laptop).

Power light flickering

The power light flickering is normal. Most pc power lights flicker to show it is operating. Also your light on you cd rom or dvd rom will flicker when you put a disk in it. Try it now - put a disk into your cd rom [ or dvd rom if you have that] and watch the power light flicker.

I want to replace my acer laptop Cd rom , from where can i remove old one

Hi,

Here are the steps on how to remove your old CD-ROM so you can replece it.

Remove all power sources from the laptop. This should include not only the AC power adapter but also the battery.

Locate and remove the screw that locks the CD-ROM in place. Some laptops may have two screws that serve this function. In addition, many will also have a sliding switch that needs to be moved in order to remove the drive.

Slide the drive out gently. It should easily come out and does not require excessive force.

Replace the defective CD-ROM drive by sliding the new one gently into place in the laptop bay, the same way the old one came out. Again, excessive force should not be applied. The drive will only fit into the bay one way.

Secure the CD-ROM drive in place by replacing the screws that were removed previously. Reconnect all power supplies to the laptop and power it on. If the replacement CD-ROM is the exact same make and model as the previous one, the system will probably recognize it right away. If it is a different make or model it will prompt you to supply the appropriate software and drivers to optimize the use of the new CD-ROM drive.

If you look at the door of the CDRom player, you will notice a very small hole. Insert a straightened paperclip into this hole and press. The door should pop open.

My dell inspirion e1705 cd and dvd drive isnt working how can fix it?

there's not much "fixing" that can go into cd drives other than getting a cleaning kit and making sure the lens doesn't have any junk on it. If you clean it and it's still not working, get on Dell's website and order a replacement.

Have an old inspirion e1705 put vista on it cd drive didnt work so put a an one in then starting having problem with vista and now it wont boot from the cd to rebot the computer

You may have to go into the bios and re set the boot order to CD first.
When you first turn on a computer you need to go to setup- usually by hitting delete or f10. Look for anything that says boot drive priority and move cd-rom to the top of the list. Save and exit and this may solve your problem.
Also, if this new drive has malfunctioned in any way the computer will stop trying to boot from it.

Scratchy sound from cd/dvd combo

Hi,
This could be a couple of Things.
First if it,s DVD Player related. it could be that The DVD Player, needs the laser Head Cleaning. Any dust-grease or similar on the Laser head, will cause Distortion. The second option is the DVD Player itself. Some DVDs are removable Drives. with An eject Rom button underneath the Laptop. This will enable you to remove. Check the drives connection Pins At the rear of the Drive. ** Clean with a Bud/Swab moistened in lighter fluid/Meths** replace the Drive.
The other possible problem would be with your Laptops Sound Card/ Board if Fitted.
Finally The problem could be related to a motherboard Fault i.e Bad earth or other internal Component Fault.
Go simplist first ( clean the DVDs Laser Head.
Then Remove the actual DVD Drive if Possible. ** Check Connections At rear** Ensure that the drive has not been dislodged from its connector to laptop mainboard.

Regards And Good-Luck.
