My coil for a lexus ls400 1992 is not fireing to start the engine?

You say 'Crank, no start', but you also say 'it will not turn over'. They are the same thing, if it cranks, it is turning over, but not 'firing' or 'starting'.

After you disconnected the battery, did you reset the Security System and Engine Immobilizer? You know it has one, that flashing light on the dash?

most cars with old coil packs 4 cylinders is just one pack
not coils but yes 2 coils in 1 pack run 4 cylinders, using wasted spark tech.
oops this old dog run 8 spark plugs now that is different.

we do know 1 and 4 fire as one and 3 and 2 first as one pair too.
I sure hope the 2 coils fire, the same way.

Could be timing problem , timing belt or chain . The spark isn't happen at the right time . What make , model , year vehicle ? Engine size. The coil fire's when turned on by the PCM/ECM - engine computer , PCM/ECM knows by input from the crankshaft position sensor .

Have you checked the wiring, the spark @ plug, Power to the coil???

It sounds like coil packs one and two are bad. Try swapping coils two and three and see if there is any difference.

Hi Thomas, You seem to have attended all that is required for the spark. Check the wiring and if it's fine I would suggest you have a diagnostic scan carried on on the vehicle. That will pinpoint the problem and allow a long term fix. Regards John

You could have a bad coil pack or a bad fuel injector. swap out the coil packs from the misfiring cylinders and put them in the cylinders that are known to be firing correctly to narrow it down to determine if it is the coil pack first. When is the last time you changed the spark plugs? Pull them out of the misfiring cylinders to check the condition of the plugs.

install the new rotor, if that isn't it check the crankshaft position sensor.
