Imate 9502 Sound Problem

My imate 9502 sound suddenly stopped working about a month ago. The sound stopped working in both internal and external speakers. When people call me they can hear me but i cant hear them.

    I have noticed such a behaviour on my 9502 a couple of times too, but I suspect it might, as usual, be caused by third party applications. One time I noticed it happened when I left fring connected whilst in suspended mode. I'm not sure it fring was the culprit, though, because I had HTC Home running, as well, which happens to be a truly heavy application. On another occasion, it happened with no apparent reason at all. Luckly, whenever it happened, it turned out to be temporary, because I got it fixed by soft resetting my device. I have just uninstalled HTC Home and left fring running again, just to be sure. Guess what? Problem seems to be fixed ! Will report back if it isn't...

New report: the problem was not caused by HTC Home, after all. It was fring's fault. In fact, I think the 9502 doesn't like VoIP client applications at all, because I have just experienced the same problem (all sounds desappearing from all possible channels, including BT) when trying the age client. So, my advice is: uninstall all VoIP client applications from your device !

I'm now in process of try & error in making the native WM6 VoIP feature work through 3g (since via WiFi it is already working: probably a codec issue)...

Go to 'Start > Settings > System tab > Clock & Alarms > Time tab', and make sure the 'Sync to current time zone' checkbox is unchecked. Press 'OK' a couple of time to leave the settings pages.
This way, you'll have to manually set your correct time when a DST time changes.

I followed all steps in my imate 9502 user manual to change my language from arabic to english but it didnt changed :(


Please try this and let me know if it works:

Open the imate 9502, then click on windows which is the start menu, go to settings, click on the system tab, then click on Multilingual Support (its an icon which has an arabic letter on it), click the third tab which is control and below the check box their are two bars click on the first bar and choose english with arabic support. then exit to the main screen. And close the phone and re-open it again and everything will turn out to be in english.

I have downloaded to my computer the profile controller file. how do i install profile controller on to my imate 9502


Well, if it is a .zip or .rar file, unpack it on your computer, until you get a .cab file. Copy this .cab file to anyhwere you want on your phone, and tap over it. If you are prompted to choose the installation place, I think this type of application would work better in the internal memory.

I have an imate 9502. For some time now it went dead on its own - and it's impossible to switch it on. It doesn't even seem to be charging cause the led doesn't light up! i've tried all sorts of voodoo...


Have you already tried to replace its battery? Maybe it is dead. If you happen to have a friend who also owns a 9502, try to borrow his battery pack, for test purposes. Otherwise, eBay offers some of them, like, e.g., i-mate Ultimate 9502 Cell Phone

I had experienced such a problem a long time ago, and, as far as I remember, it was related to the installation of Voip softphones, such as fring, Nimbuzz, agephone, etc. The 9502 doesn't seem to like them, at all. All sound channels simply got muted, normally after the device was suspended after a Voip call. A simple soft reset (by pressing the reset pin on the keyboard with the stylus pen) used to solve the problem.
However, if a soft reset doesn't help in your case, you'll have to hard reset your device. If its keyboard and screen are fully operational,.it is recommended to backup your personal data first (PPCPimBackup is an excellent and small application to do it), since a hard reset will restore your device to its factory defaults. Then, tap on 'Start > Settings > System tab > Master Clear' and follow the instructions.
If your device is not operational, at all, please, post here, so I could tell you how to hard reset by hardware means.

I cannot take a picture with I my imate ultimate 9502 mobile when i click camera button nothing happens only keypad glows some little sound and snap square window thts all but No picture----also i have to...


This problem may be due to insuffient memory. go to start, setting, system, memory, running programms and stop programs that u dont require at present moment and then u try pressing the camera key. it should work.

I get a similar problem on occasion, my IMATE JAM loses sound through the external speaker. I'm sure it's something inside but it's not worth sending out for a repair. I've found that simply inserting a set of headphones and then removing a set of headphones, resets the speaker. This leads me to believe that the problem (on my unit) is with the headphone jack, probably from a fall of some sort. The device, on occasion, simply acts as if a headphone is plugged in. Anyhow it's worked five times over the past year, each time the problem has occurred.
