I have an HP 2410, all-in-one (about four years old). When I try to print pics, it prints vertical lines through them. I have a brand new printer cartridge installed. Also, my scanner is no longer working. When I push the scan button, the message states, "Scan options are not set. Install run device software on computer."
Typically when this happens you either need to go into the printer properties and align the print head or if your printer is a modle where the print head in not attached to the ink you need to get a new print head. to be able to tell if your print head is attache just look at the bottom of the cartridge if you see a metal looking part then you have a bult on print head but if you see ink then your print head is built into your printer.
In most cases the print head is more expensive than a new printer so it is not worth replacing. As far as the scanner issue look under your start menu for an option that says HP under that see if there are any programs called setup or scanner if you do not see it there check in the row of icons that are to the left of the clock on your task bar, place the mouse over them one by one and you will get a message that telle you what they are. If you find one for the HP printer/scanner right click on it and see what your options are. This program will allow you to set up yous scanner. Most HP scanners have to have some kind of program running in the task bar in order for the buttons to work.
If you do not see any of these things I recommend that you re install the software that came with your scanner
