Clarion DXZ385 problem with error message amp grnd

Thanks for responding I bent the speaker contact connectors up and perhaps are touching the metal of the speaker? I'll check that tomorrow. How sensitive is the error message. Once I clear up the problem will it activate and turn off?

Once the ground is no longer sensed, the error will no longer come up.

Hello there.

I didn't see this post with 'Amp error' before I answered the other one.

Sounds almost Definitely your speakers cant take the power. They need to be capable of AT LEAST 50 Watts..
New Speakers I reckon.

I have a 1989 oldmosbil cutlass ciera and i upgraded to a new pioneer radio and it keeps saying amp error after a few moments of playing . What do i do

This is referring to the internal amp. Make sure none of the speaker wires are touching each other or metal. if the only speakers hooked up are the 6x9's then one or both of them probably has a bad voicecoil and is shorting out causing the radio to protect itself. Replace the 6x9's and you should be okay.

Just installed my dxz385usb. powered up and got

Check to make sure that the speaker negative and positive leads are not touching. I had the same issue on a 97 maxima, and found the rear speakers so damaged that the (bare) leads on the speaker itself were touching the basket of the speaker, shorting the whole thing out. I disconnected the rear speakers and it started working.

Amp guard

This is the mesage it will display when a short in a speaker wire or speaker with low impedence is hooked to the internal amp and sends it into protect mode, shutting down the amplifier section while the rest of the unit continues to work.

check all of your speakers are not touching metal

Check your Factory speaker locations for blown speakers or bare wires to metal.
