I have the reciever plugged into the usb port and my mouse works just fine, it is the keyboard that doesn't work

  • sydneyrich Dec 30, 2008

the device manager says everything is working. as far as pluging usb in the only cord is for the receiver there isn't any from the keyboard or mouse. Does the receiver have to be pluged into a certain usb slot or any will work?

I have the same model. And at least mine, the keyboard doesn't work well when the 2xAA batteries reads less than 1.5v per cell. I fixed mine by adding a third AA battery. Now it works well until the batteries drops below 1v per cell.

Later I found out that MI is starting to add a third battery to some of their keyboards.

To connect the keyboard or mouse to the computer, you must connect the wireless device through the USB port and get it to hold a good connection. You do not have to install any devices to use these products, they automatically work when you plug them in. When it says that the device is recognized, you are ready to use it! If you have a desktop, you can also plug the wireless device to the mouse port. The keyboard and mouse work properly up to 5' away from the connected wireless device. If you can get the wireless device to work properly, you should have no troubles with the product.

So you are saying the keyboard does not work even if you plug it into the USB? Have you checked the Device manager? Start>All Programs>right-click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager. If you have a yellow! or a RedX next to the keyboard then the driver needs to be updated or re-installed. Sometimes with new products the driver is outdated by the time somebody buys the product. Update the driver in Device Manager, it won't hurt anything and it may work.

According to what I researched on that type of setup. You first have to plug in the keyboard into a USB port so that the keyboard can get recognized by your system. Same holds true for the mouse. They both have to be "recognized" by your system before they will work in a wireless capacity. It kind of like initializing them and you only have to do it once, unless you buy a different brand later. If no USB cords were shipped then you will have to buy one.

No cd to download

Hello Ghost_Riderr :)
When you bought the Wireless mouse and keyboard set, you might have even received another small device with a USB cable.. Right? Is known as receiver and it helps your computer receive and understand the signals from your wireless Keyboard and mice.
Connect the receiver to one of the USB ports available on your computer... Computer would detect and install the drivers from the receiver automatically and you should be ready to go :)

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks and Regards,

Did you use the CD software program that came with the Keyboard and mouse to install the Keyboard?
Also try connecting the Receiver to another USB port to ensure that you don't have a bad USB port.
Hope this helps. Bud
