Large retailers that sell car audio systems (wally-world comes to mind) offer kits for this purpose. The kit contains plugs to connect to the factory harness, and you wire the Pioneer plugs to the adaptor plugs. There are many different kits, you must purchase the correct one for your application. The kit comes with instructions.

If you find my suggestions to be helpful, please share with us some details so that others may benefit from knowing the whole story. Thank you!

Did the truck have the premium sound system? If so, you will need to connect the blue remote wire to the blue remote wire on the harness. You may also need a special harness to bypass the factory amplifier.

Different cords

You will need to go to locate auto parts store and buy the adapter which will allow you to fit the stereo without any wiring modifications.

I have a 98 ford winstar I'm installing a pioneer

You'll need to check that you have the yellow wire connected to constant battery, power from battery, not thru the ignition switch. The yellow wire is the power wire for the clock and radio presets.

Need help installing a sony stereo in a 1988 ford ranger, need to know what colored wires do what

Theres a standard amongst most stereos, so if these colors apply, then you will be right,
Red is Ignition power
orange is direct power
Black is earth
blue is for phone
White is for electric arial
then there will be four coloured wires with matching color trace wires, these are the speaker wires.
Hope this gets you going, good luck.

Wiring harness on my 94 Ranger

I have a 94 Ranger XLT extended cab. Here are the power/ ground connector pinouts and wire colors as shown in the factory service manual:
Pin 1 LG/Y Radio Memory Power (B+)
Pin 2 BK Ground
Pin 3 Y/BK Power (Hot in RUN or ACCY)
Pin 4 LB/R Illumination (dims with dash lights)
Pin 5 O/BK Illumination (does not dim)
Pin 6 BK/LG Ground

From the diagrams, looks like either ground will work.

Hope this helps.
