Since I switched to a bundled cable pkg. I've been unable to set up my network. My netgear router can't seem to work with the arris modem, and my belkin adapter can't pick up the signal. It's driving me nuts as I've tried everything. Cable says it's the router, they say it's the modem, they say it's the adapter etc. Cable said their system is too fast for my router. Help me!

- Thanks, I tried that but it still does not work. The new modem is a telephony one one with a battery back-up so I believe that this may be the problem. Since, I unplug, (to power down) but it may still not fully be down to reconize the netgear router since it has a battery back-up (2 hrs).
I need a clear picture of what you are trying to do. cable modem to pc. Are you wireless or no. how many pc's. That sort of thing.

cable dsl same thing. Did you switch providers and get new modem from them? If so. Just delete previous netowrk and install new one let pc discover new one. Also, with your router you got a disc. It should install correctly. Perhaps it is previous network that is hindering you.
This will work i suppose.it did for my aris cable modem.
Remove the Backup battery Unplug power from the modem Plug the new router into cable modem (while the modem is still off) Wait for the router to have its lights runnning. power the cable modem. put battery back in
this worked me when i switched from my buffalo router to dlink and tried also with directly to my computer and it let it work.
i guess the cable modem remembers mac addressses or something and if it doesn't match then it won't go through (but that's a guess)

I switched to Comcast Digital Voice, and I have an ADT alarm system. I rewired the alarm from the outside box and spliced it into a standard telephone cord, the cord plugs into the back of my Arris modem. I tested the alarm by calling ADT (on my cell phone), warning them I was going to test it, and did so. They got the signal, no problem. I had plugged my single house phone into the second jack in the Arris modem, got a dial tone. Bam! I'm done, right? Now here is where it gets funky. Over the next couple of days, my friends were telling me that they were leaving messages for me at the house to no avail. I figured out that the house phone wasn't receiving calls. I could call out, but I couldn't receive them. There would be a single blink on the Tel2 light when I called the house on my cell phone, but the phone never rang. When I swapped the ADT line and the house line, I could make and receive calls, but the ADT line (in Tel2) couldn't call the alarm center. So: Tel1 seems to work fine. Tel2 can make calls but not receive them when the house phone is plugged into it, but can't make calls when the ADT line is plugged in. I tried using a simple phone jack splitter in Tel1 and it seems to function identically - it has the same problem. This makes me think that the issue isn't simply a modem issue. Ideas? Should I reverse some of the wires for the ADT line?

I get a busy signal when I pick up the phone. My telephone green light on the modem is constantly blinking and there is no light on the bottom battery ....I have no clue if that light is supposed to be on or not. I thought maybe someone called here and did not hang up their phone????. The only calls on my phone are from those pesky 800 scamming credit card creeps. Help!!
