Question about Dell Latitude C400 Notebook

Laptop to tv

I connected my dell latitude c640 laptop to a tv to watch a movie. The wallpaper appeared on the television but the icons and the rest of the applications do not appear. What I need to do to solve this problem, please help. My laptop has 7 female SVideo and I use a cable with 4 pin. Do you think it has something to do with this? Thank you very much

I'm no expert in this area, however, I think you control the picture by clicking on the icons on your computer, so you do not need to see them on the T.V.?

No what is happening is your laptop is seeing the TV as a secondary display and all your icons are on the primary (laptop) display. While pushing the Fn key, press the key that will redirect output from your laptop screen to the external screen. There should be a picture of a monitor in blue above one of the F keys or something. This will redirect the output to the TV as a primary display. And if you could kindly rate this solution with a fixya rating, I'd appreciate it :c) Thanks!

I am going to install a wireless card in my Dell Latitude C640 laptop. I recently watched an installation video on youtube. I noticed there was some sort of wireless antenne mentioned. Are they...

i dont think the c640 usually comes with wireless so i dont think the antenna will be in there so you might have to get them. but you can take off the ram cover on the bottom and see if the wires are there. this shows the wireless card in there

Dell laptop c640 s-video port usage

Normally you have to use Fn(function key) on your keyboard + F4 key (F4 or maybe some other key you have to see and icon on your F4,F10 key..it should look like a a monitor icon) try it.
Press Fn first and hold it and press F4....
The first time it should output only to your S-video,second pressing it should output both s-video and your monitor.
goodluck,takecare.

Problem while playing DVD

Sounds like either there is not enough memory in the laptop to handle what you want it to do, or the operating system needs to be restored. I would try the latter of the two, because that is cheaper, and then if that does not work, then upgrade the RAM
