The series for your unit is the first 2 digits of the serial number. so yours is "13"
if you are ordering any parts then you need to use the lowest number that does not go above 13. so if it says part is for series 14 and over then that is not what you want. if it says series 10 thats what you do need.

I have a Kenmore Elite Oasis dryer and it is making a grinding noise when the drum is turning. I think a long fabric-like strip of (gasket?) was found inside the drum that may have worked it's way off...

Hello,

Yes indeed their is a part exactly like that..it's a felt seal that goes between the drum and front&rear plates that support the drum. WHen ordering the part ask for a felt seal

Is there something else i can use to replace the felt seal without buying a whole new drum on a maytag neptune model MDE9700AYW

Hello,
On older maytag dryer's the felt seal wasa seperate part and not part of the drum..the problem is i do not know if the drum on the newer and older dryers is the same diameter they look similar in size but if it isn't exactly right may leave a gap where the clothes will get caught in...however the part number for that seperate felt seal is 314820

How to install the belt in the dryer kenmore 400 series.

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
If you have to check/replace/repair your drum motor, drum seals, belt, rollers, etc.
If replacing drum seals be sure to use a good grade of weather proof cement to hold the seal/s in place, some seals are furnished with the cement to glue it in place.
Note: This method works for most front loading machines.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other electrical connections.
Remove the lint filter and the screws that hold the filter housing.
Then remove the top of the dryer.
Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards and do not have to be removed completly.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

I have replaced the belt the machine makes a awful noise and now i have found a washer where does it go help needed gggrrrr

If it is the washer I think it is, it fits on the drum shaft, there by creating a spacer between the rear of the drum and the rear panel of dryer.
It means you will have to free drum from rear bearing assy.
Hope this helps.

Dark stains on some clothes after drying

I had this same problem. I turned out to be the seal around the drum. You have to remove the drum and put in another seal. Not real hard to do. You can order the seal from sears and I think the glue came with it. Just have to remove the lint vent screws and then the top lifts off. then remove the screws to the front panel. Hold the drum because it will fall. Unhook the belt. Remember how it connects. Then take the drum off and remove the seal and as much leftover glue and fabric. Glue the new seal on and let dry. I did overnight. It should have directions. then replace everything. just make the seal is on the same way you took it off so look at everthing before you remove anything. Once the seal was replaced no more stains.

We have the same machine. The drum also broke so we had it professionally installed. It wasn't done well enough and after the 90 day repair warranty, other problems developed. We still don't have a dryer and the next repair is $500 as other parts were damaged and we didn't catch it within the 90 days.
Bottom line: do have it professionally installed but be sure to ask about their work guarantee. As soon as you have any problem at all, call them back.

Squeaking

The squeaking is usually attributed to any (or all) of the following:

The drum support rollers
The rear drum seal
The front drum ring bearing
The front drum seal and bearing assembly
The Idler Pulley

Now before you throw yours hands in the air in a panic, these parts sound more technical than they are. All the bearings and seals for the drum are either felt or plastic, the drum rollers support the drum at the rear bulkhead, and the idler pulley is what the drive belt rides on. Searspartsdirect.com offers excellent illustrations to show you where these parts are located. Just type in your complete model number and there will be a part listing with part numbers on the next page. If the model number you posted this under is correct the parts can be found under the following headings:

"Bulkhead Parts"
Drum Support Rollers (item 44) Part #349241T (pkg. of two)
Rear Drum Seal (item 66) Part #279857
Front Drum Ring Bearing (item 62) Part #279441

"Cabinet Parts"
Drum Seal and Bearing Assy. (item 38) Part #3406129
Idler Pulley (item 53) Part #691366

I list all these parts as a convenience in case you need to order any of them, and to help illustrate where these parts are located. You may not need ANY of them.

The drum support rollers require lubrication at the point where the roller meets the shaft with a light turbine oil. This should be done periodically to keep them rolling smooth. DO NOT get any oil on the rubber rollers or it may cause the drum to slip. You should also remove any build of lint before lubricating.

The drum seals can become brittle with age and start making noise as the drum rotates. This is particularly true with the rear drum seal. It will become discolored with age and turn brown in many cases. Inspect the front and rear seals of the drum for excessive wear. If parts of the seal begin to protrude into the interior part of the drum, this is a good sign that the seal is bad. The seals cannot be lubricated and will require replacement.

The idler pulley is a small plastic wheel on a shaft that the drive belt rides on. Lubricating the idler pulley wheel in the same manner as the drum roller supports is also required from time to time. DO NOT get any oil on the drive belt.

I know this seems like a lot, but a simple matter of cleaning and lubricating may be all that you need. If you require further assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
