Okay, can you give some more details? What were you doing when this issue began occurring? Was this problem sudden, or did it get progressively worse over time?

Normally Windows gives this error when a new program or device driver has been improperly installed. When presented with this screen upon boot up, select "Start Windows Normally".

Should Windows fail to start normally, the next solution is to allow Windows to repair itself, (assuming that is an option).

Should Windows not offer to repair itself, you may get the option to restore Windows from a previous state. Select YES if this is the option and pick a date in time when you know it was working properly. The date may be slected from the menu.

Hope this helps you.

What Can I Do to start Windows Successfully?

If its doing this then it looks like you have a faulty file on your windows set up, or a faulty hard disk so windows cannot read the files. boot up with your windows install disk there should be an option to repar your windows installation try this also you can use command line, to run a chkdsk on the drive.

Windows will not start up

choose start windows in Safe mode, if it starts then everything will look big, don't worry about that for now. Then go to Start>accessories>system Tools>system restore and choose a date when you know that everything was working normally, when it has finished restoring the computer will restart. If asked choose start windows normally.

I hope this helps

PC won't Start windows normally

You can attempt to undo this through the use of System Restore.

I am going to assume you are on Windows XP, So start your computer in safe mode without networking.

Once you are in the desktop you are going to use System Restore. Choose a date in time on your computer before the incident happened.

For more information on the system restore utility go here:

Note : If you have Windows Vista ,read about this utility here:

Computer will not start

Hello,

Choose Last Known Good Configuration. If that doesn't work, choose Safe Mode and then do a system restore to roll back your PC.

Any further questions, please use the comment box below to respond. Thanks.

Black screen comes up "windows did not start successfully...." choose from safe mode, safe mode with networking etc Last known Configuration or Start Windows Normally. Computer then tries to...

You should opt Safe Mode:
  • On the black screen just navigate throug up and down arrow keys.
  • Goto Safe Mode and press enter.
  • It will boot your system in safe mode.
If the boot is success full:
  • try to remember any software or hardware you recently installed/change. Then remove/uninstall that software/hardware. Also remove some device driver like Video/Audio driver and make re-start. and try to normal boot. If success then install your audio/video.
If no success then I think its time to re-install your windows.
Please post your feed-back.
