Question about Daewoo DTQ-20U4SC 20" TV

There is a black box on the screen, that we can not get rid of. If we push on buttons it disappears, but comes back on as soon as the button is released. We have read the manual and can not find the solution. Please advise....

It is the TEXT mode of the closed captioning system, just go to the closed caption in the menu and change to off.

After a power flicker our TV Has a large black square in the middle of the screen. Problem is that the commercials are AOK but as soon as regular programming box. HELP!!!PLEASE!!!

You have the closed-captioning turned on and set to "text" mode. It probably got set this way because of the flicker. Use the remote (or front panel menu buttons if this set has them) to get into the closed-caption settings. Turn captioning off and the box will be gone.

In case you're curious, the reason this happens is that the set clears the screen where the text will be displayed, but there's no text. On programs or channels without captioning the box disappears.

When changing channels----Big black square appears on screen

turn off the closed captions or select c1 to view the captions. Right now they are set for text and that is what is causing the black box to appear

Black Box on the screen

It sounds like a text box that isn't receiving any text. If it covers almost the entire screen, then you might have accidentally got the settings into DEMO mode. It could also be a box for closed captioning, but that usually covers just the lower part of the screen. Either way, the solution is to go into the setup menu and restore facotry presets.

Black box appears in TV screen

The problem with the black box happened to me. I had pushed the subtitle button on my remote by mistake. Interestingly enough, as soon as I pushed the SUBTITLE key again, on the remote, the black boxes disappeared.

It also says CC which means closed captioned-- So the bottom on my remote is Subtitle, and then on the subtitle button is cc...

I hope this helps

Big black box in the middle of the screen

The black box is there because your closed captioning is on and set to text mode. Some channels send the signal even when there is no actual text to display. You can get rid of it by either turning off closed captioning or changing it to CC1 or CC2 mode instead of text. If you can't find those settings, then restore factory settings as directed in your user manual.

Don't have a remote and can't get black square off (PIP?)

Black box is called a text box--part of and activated by the
Closed Caption part of menu. You should be able to de-activate
using buttons on front of set......T.
