Marvel vs Capcom 2 and PS2 - Slim ps2

I got a used marvel v. capcom 2 for christmas as well as a used slim ps2 for xmas - tonight it won't read the memory card - it's been working for less then a week - 4 days and now THIS. Is ths because the ps2 (slim, smaller newer one) is not what the mvc2 was originally intended for - as it was for THE ps2 not the newer slimmer ps2?

There is no corrupted data - I originally thought there was something wrong with the system in reading the data from the game, but it does let me in fact go to the game - it just doesn't read the memory card now suddenly. Maybe slim ps2's need special memory cards? I don't get what the problem is - - if it was the game and system then wouldn't it not let me into the game at all?

oh thank you - I'm going to get a new memory card now - if that doesn't work, then it's the slot because I KNOW it's not the game and it's not the system - i mean, the game WORKS on it's own, bt the data is screwed up!

If you can get access at all to the memory card look for an blue squares that may be there. this indicates that the is corrupted data on the memory card. You can select and delete the blue squares. My sons memory card from his original ps2 works fine with the slimmer one. He has occasionally ran into corrupted data which he needed to delete

I have looked on several support websites for you and they all say the same thing, that the memory card may be faulty. You can purchase a new memory card, but before doing this, check that it is the memory card that does not work and not the slot that is faulty. sometimes the memory card slots can be at fault. Try slotting the memory card in slot 2 and see if it works, if not try it on a friends ps2. If it works on their ps2 and not yours then it could be the slot that is faulty. If it does not work on thiers eithers then it is probably the card that is faulty. You can use the same memory cards for both types of ps2's. You do not need a special type for the slimmer version.

Both my marvel vs. capcom games don't work

i dunno what the problem might be, but i can imagine the disc having many scratches, the lens of consoles are pretty delicate and being honest they cant read scratced discs at all. The best choice u have is to go at the nearest gamestop and pick off those games off the bargain bin.

Corrupted Marvel vs Capcom 2 data

there is no way to fix a corrupted disk, but to prevent this from happening in the future when you leave a system on overnight, you should keep it from overheating by pointing a fan at it or placing it on a hard surface that is hollow on the inside

Error 80028f17

Error 80028f17 is a boot error and there is nothing you can really do about it, the disk is corrupted or burned (illegal copy) of the game. If it is legit, go back to the store and ask for another copy as it doesn't work.
