I have an Atwwod G6a -7E system requiring a gas valve. I has a small consistant leak when not in use from the jet. I have looked at replacements on e bay however the s/n do not line up with mine. Any ideas on how to locate the correct valve first time?

See item # 9 ( 93844 ) at this link. Most RV places should stock the valve.

SOURCE: atwood g6A-7E wont turn off keeps heating water

Some dripping at pressure relief valve is normal, but are you saying it continues to run excessively hot? Does water in trailer feel extra hot?
The ECO, and/or Thermostat, should cut the power/flame before it gets too excessive.

SOURCE: Atwwod 10 gal gas/elec water heater won't work on elec.

THE LIGHTED SWITCH SHOULD BE THE 12V ENERGY SOURCE TO ACTIVATE THE LP SIDE OF THE HEATER. THERE SHOULDN'T BE A LIGHTED SWITCH FOR THE 110 SIDE. THERE SHOULD BE A SWITCH OR A COMBINATION OF SWITCHES. ONE ON THE WALL LIKE A LIGHT SWITCH AND ONE MOUNTED BEHIND THE HEATER.

SOURCE: I have a G6A-7E electronic ignite water heater.

Make sure propane is on and getting to your stove burners ok, first, then try switching it back on. If it fails to ignite, shut switch off and try a couple of times, if still no ignition, get back to me.

SOURCE: I just replaced my gas

Hi,
There are a couple of things to check....
I am assuming that the gas is LP or Propane....
make sure that the gas valve is for the right gas and not natural gas...
Also, it is possible that the regulator that cuts the pressure from the tanks is bad and that maybe why the original gas valve failed....
If you have the correct gas valve installed, get a gauge and check the pressure of the gas right before the gas valve...it should be somewhere between 8 and 12 inches water column...
If the regulator is not working properly, check that the vent hole in the regulaor is not plugged by a mud wasp nets or something like that...

Water heater flame problem

Check your exhaust, see if its clogged or blocked, clean the flame sensors, I that does not work, then your gas valve is starting to go bad, there is a cap on it if you take the cap off you can turn the gas flow down a little bit,

Need to add electric heating element and thermastate to g6a-6e gas water heater

I don't know how you can drill into aluminum tank and install element.
That seems a good way to ruin the heater.
Why not just buy small 'under counter' 1500 watt electric water heater at local box store and install in-line before the water reaches atwood gas heater.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-install-under-counter-water-heater.html
Otherwise I do not have a solution.
Don't blow yourself up by messing with gas appliance.

Atwood G6A manual water heater had gas flare up around the control knob when lighting the pilot. Unit is about 9 years old so repair or replace? works OK & no gas smell.

The gas control is leaking gas around the knob?
The gas control needs to be replaced before causing explosion and/or fire.
Gas control has identifying marks on side.

You are correct, there should be no flame after it shuts off. Pull the + wire off at contacts as well and see if flame remains, if it does, the gas valve is faulty (leaking by) and should be replaced.

Your on right track. When this happens and small flame still there, pull wire(s) off at gas valve, or test for voltage from ECO to gas valve. No voltage, then there should be no gas. Change gas valve.

Burner lights but will not shut off. then pressure

CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE WATER TEMP IS AT THE NORMAL OPERATING RANGE. USUALLY AROUND 120-130 DEGREES. IF IT IS, CHANGE OUT THE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE. IF THE TEMP IS OUT OF SCALE, CHANGE OUT THE ECO AND TSTAT.
