Could be your fan might be out of line slightly if so you can get some scissors and cut around your fan arms to stop it rubbing the seal at the front of your machine you can replace with self adhesive foam that you can put around windows and doors same kind of thing and you can get it from B@Q WHICKES and places like that not a hard job but you do have to pull drum away from it to do it also could be the bearings at the back if u grab ahold of your drum and see if it wobbles if it does most likely the bearibgs not a hard job just take screws out of back panel and youi will see your bearings m8

Drum not turning-very loud sound coming frm dryer when turned on

There could be multiple problems with you whirlpool dyer depending on the type of noise you are hearing. If the noise is a low grumble or loud buzzing sound this could indicate a bad motor. Which could explain you not hearing the drum turning. If however you hear a grating or grinding type noise but the drum is turning, this could indicate that something is rubbing or has become jammed inside the blower fan that circulates the air. if this is the case it too may have to be replaced. Also the drum can sometime come off the drum support rollers at the back of the dryer, but this is very uncommon, and only happens if they are very worn or broken. This can easily be diagnosed by a technician and if the motor is fine, will cost little to repair.Hope this helps.

When turning, loud grinding noise.

Can be a tensioner pulley with bad bearings or the rear drum bearing is shot. When the rear drum bearing goes bad, the drum drops slightly and starts rubbing and making all sorts of terrible noises. I would not run it like this as the pivot on the rear of the drum that rides in the bearing could be cutting into the support. Not a good thing.

Good Luck and hope this helps.

Dyer was grinding, then won't run

Sounds to me like you motor has froze up. Is there any smell coming from the dryer? The fuse would not cause this. A fuse would make the dryer do nothing when you hit the start button.

Makes squeaking noise after running for about 10 minutes

there are 2 drum rollers at the back of the dryer. shut off power, pull drum and you will see 2 rubber wheels. there is a little plastis triangle that keeps the roller in place. try spinning the rollers . they probably will not spin too freely. remove triangles ,inspect inside of roller the stainless steel bearing may have gunk on it try to clean off . also check shaft roller rides likewise remove any debri use a little rubbing alcohol to remove gunk. also check the idler roller that routes the belt for the same things. good luck

Kenmore Dryer electric 70 series will not start

The thermal fuse may be blown. The fuse is a white plastic item located behind the back cover on the blower box housing. It has two blue leads attached to it.
  1. Unplug the dryer.
  2. Remove the back cover.
  3. Identify the thermal fuse (white, two blue leads, one screw)
  4. Remove the two blue leads.
  5. Using a multimeter set to ohms, check the continuity of the fuse, it should "peg" the meter if the fuse is good, if the meter does not react, the fuse is blown.
  6. Remove and replace the fuse. Replacements can be found either online or at your nearest Sears.
