Question about Speed Queen AES68AWF Gas Dryers
Gas flame comes on first few times then quits and igniter keeps cycling on and off but never lets the gas go. What's the problem? Could it be that it needs new coils?
You have weak gas valkve coils and they will work when cold but after a few cycles they become electrically open and will not allow the gas to flow.
just replace both gas valve coils and that will fix your problem.

There are two sensors( not counting the igniter) for gas to flow. One is the thermostat witch warms and send a signal that the burner is lit so gas continues to flow. It could be defective giving wrong resistance value to control board. The other sensor works in series with the thermostat. It controls the maximum temp. of the burner. The burners are constantly cycling on and off to keep the dryer at a regulated amount of heat. Without the max temp sensor, the burner would be on all the time, get too hot and start a fire. It's a saftey device. It could be defective turning off the gas prematurely. Also check the igniter. The smallest crack in it , even though it is still glowing, will change it's resistance value and could keep gas from flowing. Good luck.
