Speed Queen dryer does not heat...

Gas flame comes on first few times then quits and igniter keeps cycling on and off but never lets the gas go. What's the problem? Could it be that it needs new coils?

You have weak gas valkve coils and they will work when cold but after a few cycles they become electrically open and will not allow the gas to flow.
just replace both gas valve coils and that will fix your problem.

There are two sensors( not counting the igniter) for gas to flow. One is the thermostat witch warms and send a signal that the burner is lit so gas continues to flow. It could be defective giving wrong resistance value to control board. The other sensor works in series with the thermostat. It controls the maximum temp. of the burner. The burners are constantly cycling on and off to keep the dryer at a regulated amount of heat. Without the max temp sensor, the burner would be on all the time, get too hot and start a fire. It's a saftey device. It could be defective turning off the gas prematurely. Also check the igniter. The smallest crack in it , even though it is still glowing, will change it's resistance value and could keep gas from flowing. Good luck.

Dryer works except there is no heat. Gas line is open and looks fine, what could be the problem?

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
This is a fairly common problem with gas dryers there are several components that need to be checked thoroughly i will list them here below ok?
Quick Gas Dryer Tips:

Problem -
Gas flame comes on first few times then quits and igniter keeps cycling on and off but never lets the gas go.
Answer ( most common ) -
Replace the coils on the Gas Valve.

Problem -
No flame, no igniter glowing at all,
Answer ( most common ) -
Inspect igniter for small burnt spot on dark gray or black part of igniter or check for 110 volts to igniter when dryer should be calling for heat.
On the back of the dryer near the fan blower housing is a thermal fuse, if this opens up ( no continuity ) the gas burner often quits but the motor will still run. If the thermal fuse is open/bad, always clean, change, adjust the venting system and vent hood first and clean out the dryers air ducts. Sometimes it is a good idea to replace the operating thermostat at the same time.
Thermal fuse parts help link...on blower housing cover, can not be re-set, must be replaced if is open (no continuity between pins).

Oven won't stay heated, clicking noise like its trying to ignite, and gas smell.

Things that could stop a gas dryer from heating:
- glow bar igniter, thermal fuse ( not all models ), coils on the gas valve, gas valve, thermostats, motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, sensor.

My dryer runs but no heat what should i look at first

Hi,

There Could be many Reasons but i would Classify it into 2 Parts :-

1. If there is NO Flame, No Igniter Glowing, then Inspect igniter for small burnt spot on dark gray or black part of igniter or check for 110 volts to igniter when dryer should be calling for heat.

2.
Gas flame comes on first few times then quits and igniter keeps cycling on and off but never lets the gas go, then Replace the Coils on the Gas Valve.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.
