What is the IP address that you are getting?

The Ip address needs to be in the range of 192.168.?.? on a home network typically.

Also make sure that the modem is functioning correctly by unplugging it from the power for about 10 seconds and then plugging it back in.

Ok try this - If you are on a windows based computer open up Internet explorer. Select tools from the top of the page then select internet options. At the top of the intenet options page there will be a tab that says connetions, select that tab.

Now there will be a button that says setup - follow the on screen options and then try again. The last option is to follow the above steps but this time instead of clicking on setup click on Lan settings at the bottom of the page. The only box that should have a check in it will be the automatically detect settings checkbox.

Let me know if this helps.

I would like to know if i can use my 900 series as a wireless connection to another device. Can the computer be connected to a xbox using the ethernet port and share the connection. If this is possible...

Yes it can be done. Follow the Microsoft official procedure
with the note that the client computer will be the XBOX and setting the IP address in there will be done by you manually.

No wireless connection

I am assuming you're referring to the Asus Eee PC 701SD... if so, try the following:1. Check the hotspot to see what kind of IP address it is using [are they manually configured, or is there a DHCP server that assigns IP addresses] 2. Check your 701 and make sure its network connectivity conforms with the settings on the hotspot

Asus PC 900 HD wifi connection failed?

check if the build in wifi finds your router/the home-WAN u already use(??)

turn over router, write down the WPA-nr (16 digits)

use logon program-tool provided with router or laptop,

if working, it should at least display some of the wifi-nets/hot-spots/WANs available at ur place,

then log onto your one, enter wpa-key(is password and for encrypting your connection)

choose defining ip-config using DHCP-standard/automatic ip-adressing,

a network-connection symbol may now pop up at lower right on the task bar :

and retry surfing.

good luck

I am having trouble finding the WAP key for my computer. I just bought a laptop and it can detect the LAN connection but needs the WAP key. I am looking on our desktop but having trouble finding it. How do...

I guess you meant the Security Key for the wireless. You need to manually set the encryption type and key in order to connect.
When connected to the Wireless router with a cable, open up command prompt (Start->Run...->cmd [OK]), type ipconfig and note the IP address of the Gateway.
Copy paste this Gateway IP Address into IE and [Go]. you'll be prompted to logon. Try defaults if you don't know (Admin, Admin or Admin, password).
Then depends on the model of the Wireless router you need to locate settings for the wireless connection. Recommands WPA-PSK 2, AES.

Two things to try...

First: In your system tray (lower right corner of windows) right click in your wireless network icon and select "repair". After it finishes, try your connection again. (If you can't find the icon in the system tray, go to control panel, network connections. Right click on the wireless network, and select "repair".)

Second: Try to connect to your router directly by typing it's IP address into the address bar of your browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox).
*****If you don't know the IP address, you can find it by opening a command prompt window (click "start", "run", then type "cmd" and press "ok") In the command box, type "ipconfig /all" (all of these commands I have told you are without the quotes.) In the information that is returned, look for the Default Gateway. Usually it is something like but yours may be different. This is the IP address of your router.*****
If you cannot connect to the router through your browser, then the router is the problem...Unplug it from the power for about thirty seconds, then plug it back in. Wait for a couple of minutes while it gets up and running again, then try your internet again. (Whenever I have repaired this problem in the past, I have also unplugged the cable modem which forces the modem to query for a new IP address for itself. If you do this, plug the cable modem (or DSL modem) in first, then plug in the power to the router.
If you CAN connect to the router with your browser, you should see the administrative options. Search through the tabs and options to find an option to release and renew it's IP address.
I hope that I didn't overwhelm you with too much information here, any questions, just post them here and I will help you.
