Fortunately I was able to coast into a parking lot that happened to have an O'Reilley's. Check Engine light shows P0340, which is something about the Camshaft sensor. I've replaced said sensor, cleared the codes but after attempting to turn over CEL comes back on and with same code. I also have a Mass Airflow error, but wasn't sure this would lead to the engine not firing... Also Possibly related - I've been having difficulties recently with my cruise control, will cut out after setting. Would this suggest a problem with the PCM? Anything else I could try?
Lets start at the beginning.
If you have a V6 engine you have two cam sensors. And the problem could be the cam sensor(s) is not in sync with the crank sensor due to a problem with the sensor or the timing belt.
Code 340 is for bank one sensor one. You could have as many as 4 sensors depending on which engine you have.
The mass airflow meter code could keep the engine from starting.
The cruise control problem could be related to the cam-crank sensor issue or something else.
You should only have one crank sensor and it is usually near the crank pulley in the front of the engine.

i have the code p0340 come up on my 2000 dodge intrepid, the check engine light comes on, and my car sometimes will take a few tries to start, does that sound like the camshaft sensor? how positive are you if it is?

it might be the cam shaft sensor it might be the crank shaft sensor the best thing to do is replace them bolth. but it does sound like it may be either one because if one goes out the other will still work but when starting the car it will take longer for it to read from either or the one sensor that is still working because they work together to tell the system to deliver the gas. im pretty positive that it is either the cam or crank shaft sensor

Ok, so I've already replaced the Camshaft sensor, Where would the Crankshaft sensor be locate?
