Question about Denon AVR 3808Ci Receiver

Picture on the TV, but no sound through the denon 3808 CI

After a power outage while TV and sorround sound was on, we no longer get sound for the TV through the sorround sound system, but sound for all other inputs work i.e. tuner, xm radio, iPOD. We have checked all cables and inputs, and nothing seems out of whack. Is it possible that the power outage blew something in the receiver but only for the tv/cable inputs.

That was the answer. Guess the channel is blown as the sounds comes through in another input jack.

    Many Thanks.

Yes it is possible. However, it is more likely that something else is causing this. Check the TV settings that there are no mutes on and the volumes are up. Also, check that the system is still seeing the surround as an audio device. It may have reverted to default settings after outage.

Your idea is very possible. Try connecting the TV thorough one of your other inputs. Do you get sound now? If so, you have found your problem.

Can I make the Denon AVR-2307Ci receiver have a passthrough for 3D?

I believe it is like my Denon AVR-3808 as it's a HDMI v1.3 compliant. For 3D you need 1.4. So I now use optical cables to the AVR and HDMI to the TV. Then config the DNLA player to split the video to HDMI and the 5.1 sound to optical.

I am not able to get audio through my HDMI cables.

It's a monitor - no audio source capabilities.

Get TV-related audio from its original source, not the TV or monitor. TV's and monitors are NOT hi-end audio sources.

Cable box, DVD, BD, games: these are potential hi-fi digital audio sources.

NO GUI displayed

I had a similar problem with my Denon 3808 after it had the protection circuit tripped. First all I would get is a blue screen with sound, then after powering the unit off I got the display back, but all of the on screen GUI menus were gone. I could tell that the menu button worked because display located physically on the recever worked. I reset/rebooted the system (follow the directions in manual) and everything came back. Be aware by resetting the system any customization you have done will be lost. Hope that helps

No sound when on internet radio, playtime is running, volume is not muted, internet ok

It was solved by turning the receiver off with the power button (not stand-by). After turning on the netradio did have its sound back. Apparantly it must be running some sort of Windows os.

Everything was working fine, tonight i turned on my denon and i no longer have a picture on tv1 if i change the source to dvd i have a picture but no sound. i am trying to watch tv through my dvd player....

First, check if all your cables are still properly connected, specially when it was working fine, this seems to be the most logical explanation. Otherwise set the Denon back to factory settings and see if that helps.
