Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

Older projection tv won't turn on.

We were given a 15 year old projection tv that worked great! That is until we can no longer turn it on. It doesn't matter if you use the remote or the button on the set. We thought that it started acting up because we turn the heat in the downstairs down at night. We have gotten it to come back on by unplugging and replugging. The plug looks fine, the outlet is fine, it tries to turn on but then shuts off. If we leave it on and shut off the cable box, it works great. But my son turned it off yesterday and we can't get it back on. No $ right now to dispose and replace. Any ideas?

Id replace the tv its 15 years old and past the livlihood they usually have. it would cost more in parts to repair it than to go out and buy a new one. im sure you probably already know that though. have the tuner checked but i dont think it will save the tv but if it comes on when the cable box isnt hooked up then the problem could be in the tuner. its hard to tell. the tuner is about 100.00

My Mitsubishi Medallion tv stays on for about 10 minutes and then shuts down and won't turn back on until a period of time has passed. It is a rear projection tv about 9 years old. Can anyone help ex

When it shuts off and the green power light goes off, press both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set (not the remote) and hold both for about five seconds and release.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks and then 3 blinks and repeat it several times.

What is the error code?

I have the same TV which had the same issue ( green in picture ) - back on 10/2007. I called Sony. They had their technician replace the optical box ( factory defect ). There was no charge for the repair even though TV was out of first year of warranty. Call Sony.
