Question about Saws

1 Answer

My DREMEL 1680 Variable speed 16" scroll saw will not turn on.

The saw I have had for 5 years and is my second scroll saw. Today after using it just 3 days ago I attempted to use it and it would not turn on. The light comes on so I know it has power. I pulled each of the brishes out and they are still almost new with well over 1 1/2 inch on material left.
I have attempted to reset the reset button but it seems to be in the up position and I cannot get it to click or move.
Do you have any suggestions before I have to take it to a repair centre.

As a result of the power being on to the attached light I knew it was not a power source problem so I took the fuse area cover off(with the machine unplugged) and saw there were no loose connections in that area. I then removed the front control area where the two swithes for the saw and light were. I took off the two wires on the saw switch and then plugged the saw in and jumped the two wires together. The saw worked!!!!!!. I then changed the light switch over to the saw switch location and the switch works . It appears it was a faulty switch. Today I will call the Dremel 1-800- number and order a new switch.

Ryobi Scroll Saw runs at maximum speed

Unfortunatly the speed controls cannot be repaired, they can only be replaced. You will have to find a Ryobi dealer in your area and get a new speed controler.
