Can you explain a little more detailed on where that transformer is and where theat connection is and looks like please?

  • ballinpimp24 Dec 29, 2008

I do not see any places that need to be resoldered.

  • ballinpimp24 Dec 29, 2008

I wiggled the transformer while the tv was on and it shut the tv off. SO do I need to buy a new transformer?

  • ballinpimp24 Dec 29, 2008

I could show u a pic of what it is doing but it will not allow me to copy one in here.

  • ballinpimp24 Dec 29, 2008

I also have a green red and blue lines at the top of the screen.

  • ballinpimp24 Dec 31, 2008

It is that Middle fuse. Thanks for the help but I need one more thing. Do you know where I can get that fuse at? It is the t400mA

  • ballinpimp24 Jan 07, 2009

Well now that i have replaced the fuse the tv keeps on shutting on and off. Now what could the problem be.

  • ballinpimp24 Jan 08, 2009

I did do that and it is still shutting on and off. There was a little puff of smoke that came up to the right of the fuses. It wasnt the fuse i put in but it was something next to it.

  • ballinpimp24 Jan 21, 2009

I have checked all of my plugs and ribbons. I still do not know what the problem is. I replaced the little 1/2 amp fuse by the tranformer and then a little puff of smoke came up about 2 inches to the right of the fuse. The tv will turn on and then it will shut off after like 5 seconds. Can anyone please help me?

The problem is convergence. The way to fix this is to solder the bad connections on the flyback transformer. It is not an all to uncommon problem. If you go into the setup menu, you probably will not see the "convergence" heading

If you take off the back of the TV and look on the left side board, you will see a black component with two red wires coming out of it. That is the flyback. Underneath that component are the bad connections. The board will have to be removed and soldered. Make sure the unit is unplugged. If you are not comfortable, you may want to contact a servicer

You do not have to buy a new transformer. You may not see the bad connections but they are there. Solder every pin on the transformer. After that, from the top of the board, look on the right side of the transformer and you will see three brownish red fuse in a row. The one in the middle is bad. It is a half amp fuse. Replace it and your problem will be fixed

You can get one just about anywhere. I would lokk for a 1 amp pico (pronounced peeko) fuse. It is a little higher rating but won't cause any trouble. You can try radio shack, MCM electronics, etc.

Check and reconnect the 2 ribbon cables as well as double check all of your plugs

Hello my tv is giving me a double image with red shadows on the right side of the pics. I think on of the bulbs is going out is this possible and how do I check to see which one it is?

The problem is not usually the bulb but the convergence IC's on the convergence board. When you see color shadows or if your TV look like you are looking at a 3D image you either have one or both Convergence IC's out. If you are handy with a soldering gun and a voltage meter you can do this repair yourself otherwise you will have to call a technician. You will also have to check a couple of resistors and fuses.

Blue shadows on my philips projection tv

You have possibly contaminated fluid in your blue picture tube if it has a hazy look.Blacks and whites look bluish and whites have a blue bloom to them. The other problem could be bad convergence amps. This would be double image around letters on the screen.

TV PROBLEMS

If the images are different colors (red, green, blue) then the convergence has diverged. Some TV allow re-convergence through the menu screen, older sets my need to be physically adjusted (aimed) to clear this up. a strong knock to the TV may have cause this.

I think it's called "tubes" for the TV, the projection tubes are messed up, and you probably killed your bulbes. Very expensive to fix, just part out what can be used and get a new TV, or get a 60" tv with a smashed screen, and reuse your screen. People sell those on craigslist.org all the time with broken screens because they do not know how to replace them for only 100-200$

Unplug the TV from the ac wall outlet for about 4 minutes then plug it back in and turn it on. If it still has a double image then tell me if it's affecting the menu screen from the TV (not the cable menu). And is the double image in red and blue?
