How do i brighten the screen on my dell pc

When you installed Windows 7, did you also install the drivers for the graphic card?

you have come to the right place. you will get anwsers to all your problems at fixya. if you want to brightening the screen of the laptop, the combination of the keys below will help you out.
Fn + F7 - Increase Brightness
Fn + F8 - Decrease Brightness

You can use the function keys to try brightening the screen, but it doesn't seem like it would help. Hold down the function key (the blue "Fn" key next to the Windows logo key) and press the up arrow in the lower right corner of the keyboard repeatedly. Every time you press the arrow (with the function key held down) it should brighten the screen by one degree.

If the backlight and inverter have both been replaced, the problem is most likely either the screen itself, or a pinched cable somewhere in the connection between the screen and the motherboard or video card. If you know how to take the laptop apart, you can check for pinched cables or harnesses -- if you don't see any, it's most likely the screen.

To brighten the screen of your lattitude laptop you can press Fn key and up arrow key and to decrease the brightness you can press Fn and down arrow key.

Have you tried adjusting the screen's brightness? There should be two buttons with pictures of fading and brightening suns on them to adjust this.

If you have graphics control application on the computer from the video hardware manufacturer you can usually turn up the brightness using that. If that is not present or possible then the backlight inverter board needs to be replaced.

go to power management and brighten your screen

Push and hold the Fn button and for decrease of brightnes push F7 for increase push F6 . So Fn+F7 dark: Fn+F6 bright.

I have the same problem at times. Even when I try fn + right arrow, the screen will start to brighten then go right back to dull. At first it only did this when the power outlet was not plugged in, but now it sometimes does it even when it is plugged in. If I reset, it usually fixes the problem.
