We have an electric Kenmore 70 series dryer that is making very loud noises - still drying well otherwise. Husband just took off front and top, and took out drum - still makes same noise when just motor is running. Any thoughts?

You have a bad thermal fuse , usually caused by lint blockage from the filter or vent hose .

check the thermal fuse if it is blown also change the high limit thermal cut-off fuse www.repairclinic.com shows your parts. go there and enter model number. Also check the heat element. to get into it remove the lint filter and the two screws you'll see there then pry the top up at the front corners. And through the back you should find the heat element and blower housing and thermal fuse and high limit fuse and cycling thermostat.

Kenmore 70 series dryer making loud rattling noise, drying ok

it could be a worn motor bearing, but they usually last for 20 years, i would guess that you have a worn drum roller, the thing that holds up the drum and looks like a wheel.
if your sure the motor has a worn bearing then replacing the motor is not easy as you have to unscrew the blower wheel from the motor shaft.
it also may be that you are talking about the idler pulley being worn. it is the device that holds tension against the belt and they also will wear out and be "wobbly"

Dryer making very loud noise.

We had the exact same noise all of a sudden start coming from our 2 year old dryer. We checked everything, rollers, pulleys, motors, etc. I was certain it was coming from the upper left. Finally we found a loose screw had fallen into the front felt ring. Problem solved!
Good luck.
