The hardware warranty for HP and Compaq notebook PCs and tablet PCs varies among products, depending on geographical region, country, and product model. For the specific warranty period, warranty terms and conditions, and available technical support, see the printed warranty statement included with the product. The warranty period can also be found on the service tag (illustrated below) located on the bottom of your product. In late 2001 I purchased the HP Computer Pavilion 7920 - #P4053a SN MXl3508642 with Monitor P1282-60051 SN CNABY0l037....Using Windows Millenium at present. Just purchased new HP Photosmart C4380...

You should upgrade your computer to XP, ME is a horrible version unfortunately. It is about 150$ for a copy of xp and then you will have a copy forever. The printer unfortunately will not work with Millenium.
thanks,
Lee

Replace power supply

Are you sure the power pack has failed? That should be straightforward and fairly cheap. Note carefully the model and type on the present one, then shop around.
  • Power Supply
    Internal 220W (100V-240V)
Form factor: Internal for slim form factor
  • Total wattage: 220W
  • Nominal input voltage range:
    • 100-127V/6A (50-60Hz)
    • 200-240V/3A (50-60Hz)
  • Dimensions: 200mm x 85mm x 53mm (7.9 x 3.3 x 2.1 inches)
  • This power supply has an LED to indicate a possible failure condition when the LED is off and power is connected.

My "hp pavilion a220n" won't

Check all wires for loose connections--- if the memory was wrong or something, it would still attempt to boot but stop during the POST and start to beep

Why does my computer shut off by itself? it is a hp pavilion a305 pc desktop. we tried cleaning all the dust out but it didn't help

HP skimps on powers supplies which causes them to run at near-capacity and eventually fail. That case should accept a standard ATX supply but if buying on eBay (suggested-lots cheaper) check with seller for compatibility. Do NOT replace the old supply with the same power rating; choose one with 50% or greater capacity; i.e. replace 250W with 350-400W. It won't cost hardly any premium or use more power, just run under less stress.

HP Pavilion dv9700 laptop, Wireless stops working at random.

HP's normally use the Atheros wifi card which recently has had many problems such as what you describe here. Try a different wifi card to see if this solves the problem. If you don't have a wifi card take it to a local repair shop to see if they have one they can try for you.

Starts up then looses all power

It is almost always one of two things:

The power supply is going bad, or one of the internal fans are going bad. If the power supply goes bad there isn't enough electricity to keep the machine running. If the processor fan goes bad there is usualy a thermal protect switch that will stop the machine from starting.

Open the cover and try to turn on the machine. If all fans appear to spin I would bet the power supply. You can usualy purchase them for around $40

My HP pavilion wont start up.it will sometimes but for the most part it won't. it takes me to a screen to repair startup problems but never fixes the issue.

Check the power supply. You can do this by opening up the case and hitting the power button. If the fan on the back of the power supply and the fans internal in the unit all turn of then it is not a power supply issue and is a motherboard issue. This seems to be a power supply problem and will be around 100 dollars if you fix it yourself
