Your speakers are plugged into the wrong port? Most computers have at least a mic port and a speaker port, many also have front, rear, center, and subwoofer. Try playing a sound, then moving the connector to another port and trying again.

Are your new speakers plugged in? Is the volume on them turned up?

Dimension 8400 has sound with headphones, but no sound from speakers on the Dell monitor.

Hi, Check the following,
  • Speakers, connecting cables and Sound Card are working fine by connecting to another computer.
  • OR
If the connection ok increase your volume andopen the cable from the pc.
Now you will touch the stereo jack, can you can listen a sound when touch thejack. If you will not get any sound, think there is the problem in youramplifier or audio system has not any voltage. To confirm the voltage check bymulti miter or can go any local Technician .If the voltage is ok, think yoursound system defected and should go to Technician.
Hope this helps.

Can hp speakers connect to dell computers

Hi, The answer is yes it can with 3 ifs;
1. The plug fits in the jack.
2. They must be powered.
2. The speakers are made for computers.

Regular audio speakers will work but not recommended because the magnet can wipe out information stored on Hard Drives.

Hope this information helps.

Cant connect rear speakers

Hey there Subaquakid, the nature of surround systems is to identify separate extra channels of information and send them to the right address, being the selected speaker. In order for the rear speakers to work they need to be sent a signal. The media which you are using may not have the rear channel encoded. therefore the rear speakers have nothing to announce. Please ensure your source cd has the suround feature encoded. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
