Hello there, I have a Dell computer and trying to use HP speakers with it. Will this not work? I am not hearing a sound and my computer shows no device for speakers.

Hi there, thanks for your suggestions. The sound worked at one time. The computer was moved to another room and then the sound didn't work. This is why I'm trying another set of speakers. I have checked all that you suggested and still have the problem.

  • Sandra Bajalieh Dec 28, 2008

The sound card was not messed with so I would imagine it was installed correctly.

  • Sandra Bajalieh Dec 28, 2008

Is there something else I can do?

  • Sandra Bajalieh Dec 29, 2008

So just to be clear, uninstall and restart and the drivers should install itself? I don't have a disk to install the drivers.

  • Sandra Bajalieh Dec 29, 2008

so the ironic thing is the sound (volume) icon is not there on the lower right of the screen. When I go into device manager to try to change the volume it's grayed out.

Thank you very much! It's a Dell Dimension 4500. Providing the link would be great.

Happy New Year! I downloaded quite a few of the audio drivers and my computer still doesn't recognize an audio device.

Speakers do not show as a device, that is nothing to be worried about. Has the sound worked with other speakers?

Make sure you didn't accidently mute the sound. see if you have the speaker icon on lower right. make sure there is no red circle.

The HP speakers should work fine with your Dell.
Make sure that you have the speakers plugged into the correct port on the back of the Dell (This is typically a green colored port) Once the speakers ar plugged in to the correct port make sure that your sound is not muted.

Click on Start then on Settings or Control Panel.
Once you get to the Control Panel double click on the Sound Icon.
Verufy that the sound is not muted and you can also check the box to display your voulume settings on the task bar.

You may also want to check that your sound card in correctly installed.

Check these items and let me know if there was any change because there can be other items to check - These are just a few good jumping off points

You may want to try and reinstall the drivers for the sound card because other programs can mess with them. The easiest way to correct this is by going into the control panel and then into system and then into the device manager. look for the sound, video and game controllers after opening this option find the sound card and right click on it.

Select uninstall and then restart the computer.

If all is well the sound card should re install itself.

If you need help identifying the sound card in the device manager just let me know what items are listed under the sound, video, game controllers

Another option might be to remove the side of the computer and verify that the sound card did not get knocked loose when it was being disconnected and moved.

What this means is that your sound card is not installed.

What you need to do is go to the website for your computer manufacturer adnd download the driver for your sound card. If you give me the model number and brand for the computer I can find it and give you the link.

Here is the likn to the driver page for your machine.

I would recomend trying the integrated audio driver first but if that does not work try the others that are listed.

How are you going to hear sounds with no speakers?

Speaker on the inside of the computer, would have been for hearing BIOS Beep Codes.

I need the model number of the Systemax desktop computer.
Should be on the back next to the Windows product key, or up on the side of the computer tower.

No sound

Hello,
  1. Did you have the correct audio-drivers installed on the system?
  2. Maybe the speakers are muted in the audio settings?
  3. You could try to attach some external speakers, such as an amplifier or a headphone to the laptop.

Greetings...

So i have a dell computer with a built in speaker and the speaker is on the computer screen and it doesnt work at all so how do i make it work ?

make sure you're not on mute. Go to your control panel, click on "Hardware and Sound" and among the selections, choose "Manage Audio Devices" once you click it, a little window should pop up and would show the sound device on your computer usually the default is "Speakers/Headphones". It should show you a "check" on the device meaning it is enabled so that you should be able to hear sounds on your computer. if it doesnt show you a tick mark (usually) or if it shows you in "red color" it might be disabled and thats the reason why you dont hear anything on ur pc. if that's the case, simply "right click" the device and it will give you option to "enable" it. Choose enable, and make sure to click "OK" otherwise it wont take effect. try playing any audio on your pc again. If it did not resolve your issue, then maybe it must be some sound card issue which is another method. try this one first and see what happens. -please rate me if it helped you. :) if not, let me know and we'll go to your sound card diagnosis

Sound plays on my system but i dont hear it at all.my windows

Let's start by checking
  1. Your speakers are plugged into the green connector on the computer
  2. Speakers have power, are turned on, and volume is up
  3. Check your "speaker" icon on your tray (lower right hand corner of desktop) - to make sure volume is up and not muted.

Tin like sound from small speakers only. No sound

switch on your speaker set in full volume unplug it from computer touch the plug , as you touch you can hear a sound ( loud hum sound) if the speaker is working. If okay then check the right jack, plug it into green color jack. you can try if your computer is okay use a headphone plug it into the jack in PC , if the computer is okay you may hear the sound.

Will not work on my new dell computer

I'm not familiar with this speaker. Your sound card has a very low output which requires amplified speakers, so if the Bostons don't have an internal amplifier you won't be able to hear them.

Dell GX280 speaker problem..??

Go into the device manager and see if the sound card drivers are installed. If not then you'll need to install the drivers for them.

HP speakers not working with Dell computer

Your speakers are plugged into the wrong port? Most computers have at least a mic port and a speaker port, many also have front, rear, center, and subwoofer. Try playing a sound, then moving the connector to another port and trying again.

Are your new speakers plugged in? Is the volume on them turned up?
