Question about Philips GOGEAR SA6045 MP3 Player

Phillips mp3 gogear sticks on photo mode

Just bought one of these for my daughter - all works well, sounds great, but.........we have successfully loaded/unloaded photos off/on it but every time we try to go to the photo section and view the photos, the whole mp3 freezes - all is well again when i reset it - but this is getting old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, make sure you have run the installation CD for the device. Second, make sure the photos are in the JPG format that the spec sheet suggests. Third, run the Update function in the Philips Device Manager (Warning: running the Update will delete all songs, photos from the player, so you will have to reload them, but it will work better afterwards).

U DO NOT REQUIRE ANY SOFTWARE TO ADD SONGS TO UR PHILLIPS MP3 PLAYER. JUST USE UR USB CABLE TO CONNECT WITH THE PC. THEN U SEE ONE DRIVE NAMED REMOVABLE DRIVE COMES IN MY COMPUTER. JUST DOUBLE CLICK ON IT AND ADD MP3 SONGS AND THE SONGS ARE ADDED TO MP3 PLAYER. ENJOY THE SONGS IN PHILIPS MP3 PLAYER. GREAT SOUND.....

It is not possible. The SA6045 GoGear is completely incompatible with Macintosh. Sorry.

How do u download music for your mp3 player im new to this :(


Subscribe to an online music service that is compatible with your GoGear, such as Rhapsody's Mp3-Only service - I repeat MP3 ONLY - no other Rhapsody service will work.

Use Windows Media Player to transfer songs to your GoGear, or Rip CD's into Mp3 format - I repeat MP3 FORMAT - using Windows Media Player.

Videos must be transferred using the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter that came on the installation CD. You can also get this program from Philips website.

You will only be able to transfer photos to your GoGear if you have used the installation CD that came with the player. It contains a critical file that Philips has never posted to their website called the Philips Device Plug-In.

Phillips gogear need driver need driver for the mp3 player, it completely stopped working and the philips device manager tries to repair it, but is un successful


To reload drivers:
WARNING: this process will erase all songs off the GoGear.
Disconnect the GoGear from computer.
Turn the GoGear off.
Hold in the volume + button.
Reconnect the GoGear while holding in the volume + button.
Continue holding the volume + button.
After 5-50 seconds, Windows will pop-up a "Found New Hardware Wizard." - complete the wizard (BTW, you can take your hand ff the volume + button now).

Make sure you got the one with GoGear docking station instead of the one with Ipod Docking Station.

Here's how to fix the player:
Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

Philips Go Gear MP3/Video Player 2 GB (Model SA3125)


The Phillips Go Gear is not compatible to Windows Vista, and there is nothing one can download to make it compatible. I contacted Phillips, and they said that there are no plans to update the software so that it works on Vista. Pass this to everyone that is having a similar problem. Contact Phillips on their website, and request that the Phillips Go Gear software be updated to include Windows Vista. If more people raise a stink (especially threatening never to buy Phillips products), maybe something will be done.

Phillips GoGear 4Gb - Can't sync songs onto player anymore.


Software can be found by going to:
www.usasupport.philips.com
Enter your model number
On the next page, click on your exact model number without the "B" on the end
On the next page, click on "software and drivers"
