Espresso machines sometimes come with a milk steamer wand. If your wand is producing water instead of steam, your machine is not heating properly. But no machine draws milk into itself. If would be near impossible to clean. Do you still have the Nespresso instructions ?
it is clogged with dried milk. Remove the frothing wand from the machine. now press milk froth. you should get a ton of steam blowing out of the hole where the frother used to be. Your frother comes apart for cleaning. pull the chrome tip off, pull the 90 degree fitting and the black milk suction tube off, if it is really dirty you can soak the disassembled frother in hot water with a cleaning tablet. ( the small ones you drop in the brew unit, not the big descaling tab.) also, there is a clear tube with a point on the end of it sticking out of the frothing wand. this is an air admittance oriface. it allows air to enter the hot milk stream and make it frothy and bubbly. if it gets clogged, you will get hot milk but no froth. Your machine came with a spare one in the parts kit.
This is a result of the water temperature in the boiler increasing, thereby expelling water that may remain in the lines out of their respective exit points. A solution may be to place a container under the group head to catch the water, or opening the steam valve partially to allow the water to exit through the steam wand (again placing a vessel/cup/pitcher there to catch the water). This is a problem that even higher end (dual-boiler) models have, due to the necessary purging of water that accumulates in the steam wand during down-time.
Don't look at it as a problem, but simply as a quirk that single-boiler machines have. If you are still irked by the issue, consider buying an inexpensive manual frother (Bodum makes these) to froth and heat your milk (in the microwave after frothing) separately. An added plus is that you can do this while you make your espresso, so if you make primarily milk-based drinks (latte, capps etc.) you'll save on time.
guess the problem is fixed long time ago? anyway i am happy to let you know if this appliance still annoying you. i ve one which bought at laverton market some months ago, same problem as yours: no manual and even black and decker ignore my request to send me one. therefore i studied the construction and found out how it use: 1. fill up water to the level which engrave at the cylinder. (can fill hot or boiled water to save electricity and speed up the heating process) 2. when it boil power will off automatically, remember do not overfill to leave room for the generated steam; 3. plug off the power; pull up the looped pin of the bend tube; 4. place your milk jug (of course with milk or soy filled inside may be half full only); 5. press the grey button on the cylinder top (use some more energy; i know it is hard!) steam will come out to frothy your milk. 70c for latte, or 85-90c for cuppancino something like that.
When steaming the milk/cream make sure to hold the rubber nozzle to the very bottom of the cup and also make sure you are leaving enough water to produce the steam after brewing a cup of espresso. Also you'll want to check the breather tube that sticks up from the nozzle and make sure it is free of buildup.When the steamer is operating correctly it should produce a loud growling sound.
For the grouphead check the basket there might be a slight bump around the edge that is preventing it from making a good seal when it contacts the gasket in the head. If the Double works fine then the gasket is not the problem. For the steam wand try flushing wand for 3 seconds just before steaming, if that does not help with the watery milk, then the boiler is not getting hot enough to produce steam.
I worked at StarBucks, what we did was put water into a contaner and steam the water, a lot of the time why the steamer doesn'..t work as well is because it is clogged. Another way to do it is to just run your steamer, also go to a coffee store and buy expresso machine cleaner. It could just need a good cleaning.
How long have you had the machine? Use a straight pin and poke the opening of the wand. It may be blocked. If the bottom of the wand can be removed, use some pliers, and CAREFULLY remove it, soak it in hot water. Rinse it thoroughly, and replace it back on the machine. If you cannot remove the wand, turn the machine upside down, and check the opening to the wand. It most likely is stopped up. Run vinegar and water through your machine once a week. please relay on your experience realizing that you now have new steam pipe(with different holes in the end of it and different pressure) you will need to get use to them and get maximum quality of that steam pipe. my advice:
every time hold your hand in the bottom of milk container, so that you will prevent overheating which often gives the result you mentioned.
You're supposed to wait for the blinking light to go solid before attempting to steam your milk!
Until then, the water isn't hot enough (it's at coffee-brewing temp, not steaming temp) to produce steam.
Further, after steaming, the water is too hot for coffee's correct brewing temp, and the light again blinks until it has cooled down enough, if you care.
