Question about Clarion DB538RMP CD Player

Open Question

On/off volume control switch intermittent

The volume control is intermittent on my Bose/Clarion factory audio. '97 Maxima. OEM. If I could locate the replacement part I could fix it myself. I already have it out of the car and out of the tuner. Any suggestions as to where I might get another 'on/off volume control' switch for this? Model number PN-2121D.

Thanks,

Alan

You are most likely going to need to retrieve that from the Clarion manufacturer. Cost is usually 35-50 US Dollars.

Just install a aftermarket media player in my 97 30G maxima and am get power but no sound th factory head unit was a non Bose unit made by clarion can anyone help

Are the speaker compatible? Aftermarket units tend to be higher wattage which means they are too powerful for underpowered stock speakers. So the 125w player is incompatible with the 50w speaker. Note the ohms too. Speakers are not universal.

How to install a flip down dvd player in a 2001 chevy venture minivan

If you go to any Car Audio shop, you can get the installation kit, wire harness, and antenna adapter. 90% of the installation can be done at the kitchen table, then pull the factory radio and the new unit will plug into the factory harness and bolt into the factory locations. Make sure you have the vehicle with you when you get the parts so they can look at the factory radio and make sure you get the right parts. If it a factory Bose system, let a professional do it, there is rewiring that will have to be done. Hope this helps

PXA-H700 optimum set up...

The way the EQ is hooked up is correct.

You set the factory radio to a set level, then use the volume on the EQ for everyday adjustments.

I believe your problem lies in the amplification.
Your BOSE amplifier was made to run a 4 channel 8ohm stero load.
Low powered - high in sound quality.

You have swapped the factory 8 ohm speakers (15W) for 4 ohm power hungry ones.
Now the amplifier is working harder to produce the same output.

You would be best served eliminating the factory amplifier and getting 1 good 4 or 5 channel amp to power your speakers.

a 4 channel amplifier could be used stereo (left and right) on channels 1 and 2, (2ohm stereo load)
and bridge channels 3 and 4 for your subwoofer.

For a true surround sound - a 5 channel amplifier could run each speaker individually, and the 5th channel is reserved for the subwoofer.

a small dedicated 75wx4 channel amplifier with built in crossover, and level gain controls - would blow your socks off. It is 200x better than the factory 12Watt amplifier. Your ears will love you for it :D

No volume

The Bose system in the Z is wired to control the entire car's speakers. Each speaker has its own amplifier, and the OEM head unit puts out a line-level signal to each amp. Your Clarion unit puts out speaker-level signal (in effect, an amplified signal), into the Bose amps, and it's probably overdriving them and putting them into shutdown.

Your best bet is to replace the Bose speakers with aftermarket speakers meant for a speaker-level drive (which is what I did in my Z, and never once regretted it). If you do so, you'll need to run new wires to the speakers, or if you use the OEM wiring, you'll need to unplug the amps and run the wires from the amp harnesses directly to the new speakers. I think there is an adapter harness you can use that will tap into the line-out jacks on your Clarion, so that a line-level signal can be sent to the Bose speakers - I'd do a google search for "Metra harness 300zx" or something along those lines (Metra makes the lineout harness adapters - I use one in my Audi).
