Question about Powercom (BNT-1500AP) UPS System

Powercom BNT 1500AP quit working after power outage

After a short power outage (20--30 sec.) the UPS was out and would not restart. Additionally, the circuit breaker on a power strip plugged into the UPS output was tripped. I suspect there was a surge. Is there a replaceable surge module in this unit? If so, how do you get at it?

You were right, wwright. The battery voltage tested low, and after removing the cells, I saw that the cases of both batteries were ruptured (no serious leakage). The 40 Amp fuses (slow-blow, from the looks of them) on the circuit board were fine. $50 for two new cells with more Amp-hours, some screwdriver work, and the problem was solved. This is the second time I have replaced ruptured SLA batteries in a UPS unit.

Anybody out there got a hack for using standard automotive batteries with a UPS unit? Much more Amp-hours and probably more reliability at the cost of venting the batteries and keeping them upright.

From your description it appears one or more batteries are bad..The circuit breaker on the Power Strip..which more then likely is a 15 Amp..tripped due to over current conditions..check the batteries and reset the circuit breaker..That should take care of it

Hi, I have two of these UPS and in both the cooling fan makes a lot of noise, is that normal, or how I can do it to stop that noise. Thanks

try removing the fans and remove a sticker at the centre, to find bearings, clean them with a cloth then spray Iso-Propyl alcohol (IP) clean with dry cloth put few drops of low viscosity oil(2T oil will help).tell me if the noise do reduce.

AC trips circuit breaker not long after a recent power outage.

Sounds like your compressor is shorted to ground. If you are able, unhook compressor, wrap wires and restart. If breaker doesn't trip than u know.

your ups cannot get enough power from the outletreplace the battery of your ups 12volt 7ampere reset the small breaker. when it still turning off test the continuity of the small breaker and the cord to plug use a multitester.

We had a power outage for about 45 minutes a few days ago. Ever since then the Powerware 3110 has been beeping. I turned it off and left it plugged in overnight and when I turned it back on the beeping...

This could be several things, fortunately the device should actually be helping you to diagnose the issue. There are different beeps for different issues. They are as follows:

1 Beep Every 5 Seconds = Power Outage\Loose Plug Connection\Tripped Circuit Breaker\Power Cord Damage or Failure

2 Beeps Every 5 Seconds = Low Battery Alarm

3 Beeps Every 5 Seconds = Battery Needs Charging\Service\Replacement

3 Beeps Every 5 Minutes = The Battery is discharged and battery power is unavailable (If this continues battery replacement may be necessary)

1 Beep Ever 1/2 Second = Power Requirements exceed the UPS Capacity (remove some equipment to lighten the load on the unit)

Continuous Beep = Short Circuit / Input Voltage out of Range / UPS Fault (Likely replacement of entire unit)

That should help diagnose the actual issue. If it turns out the battery needs to be replaced they can be found online for around $20. A simple google search for Powerware 3110 Battery should return what you're after. Good luck!

Computer restarts as soon as power goes off, its not an ups . When i manually turn off the power to the UPS, it switches / relay works fine, but if actually if there is a power outage the relay does not...

Your question is slightly confusing. Do you mean that the computer is not powered by a UPS? If the computer is not connected to the UPS, then why have a UPS? If the computer is not connected to the UPS and restarts when you turn the UPS On, your circuit feeding the UPS is overloaded and the voltage dips. If the computer is connected to the UPS, and restarts when there is a power outage, the fault may lie in the reaction of the HP 800. This unit looks to be a line interactive unit and it is not a true on-line UPS. The line interactive and battery backup (no voltage regulation) units both should have a switch to battery power time of 4 msecs, or less. If this unit is faulty and the switchover time is longer, it will not continue to hold up the computer internal power supply. If you are trying to run a laser printer on the HP unit, it won't have enough output capacity.

does it have a led display for battery charge? if it is very low battery is bad, when you add a/c no output because bad battery will not provide a/c in power failure

Hi! Per our UPS problem is when open 3 or 4 hours, then auto Off the UPS. please let me know what the problem. And i need to change the PCB board or just repair the PCB board? Thanks Regards

If you unplug the unit and it powers your PC for 3 or 4 hours then turns off, it is because the batteries are empty and this is normal. If it is plugged-in with power and shuts itself off after a few hours, then the battery cells may be in need of replacing.
