If you can access directly without using router, then you may have to configure NAT on your router.
This video will help you in installing it. However, If you still face any issue using XBOX Live through router, please let me know.

This assistance is absolutely FREE. Please rate and give your feedback.

How do i hook up xbox 360 to play xbox live

simplest way: connect the grey network cable that is provided to the back of the xbox360 network port. Connect the other end to your router.

If you dont have a router with sockets on it or your xbox is too far away then you can buy a wireless adaptor from xbox for this, it is an accessory.

once you are connected you need to sign up for an account. You can link this to your email address.

That's all there is to it.

Cant connect to xbox live through router

Hey stchivo, not entirely sure what's happening.  It might help to know what type of router you have.  I know the new linksys routers have a new security feature by the name of SES or something of the sort.  Make sure that is disabled and that DHCP is enabled.  Also make sure a firewall on the router isn't blocking it.  It might help to have screenshots of your router settings to better evaluate what's happening.
