If the people you are talking to have speakers they hear you on, then you will get feed back of your voice. Have them turn down the speaker level or better yet use a headset and this will no longer be a problem. Hope this helps. Bud

The microphone on my ic014c webcam won't work!

if the microphone has a second cable with a jack plug ..than you have to use it in the pink inlet on the sound card ..and will work ..or in the mic in of the laptop ..
If there is no second cable (split cable ) with jack plug ..it means the mic is using the usb ..and in this case you have to get to the sound settings and select the usb for the mic ..Also select the usb for each instant messaging programs you use..to d that just open the program ...get to the tool options ..and select sound devices and under mic select the usb instead of regular windows default or sound driver ..

Volume very low!

Most web camera models do not have microphones built in. When they do, they are far from the person speaking, if mounted near the monitor. If there actually is built in microphone, I suggest going to the "mixer functions" and selecting the box under microphone that says 10X boost (gain) and checking that, then readjusting the level on the mixer as this will boost microphone gain quite a bit.
Finally, for any real quality, I highly encourage the use of a commercial quality lapel or lavalier style microphone or even a nice Shure Dynamic mic with a deskstand, aimed reasonably close to your general head or chin direction. Radio Shack (!) also actually sells a flat conference type condensor microphone that is good if placed on a table or flat surface if you wish to pick up comments from multiple people with reasonable quality.
Good Luck!

How do i turn on my built in webcam for the advent roma 2001 laptop

  • Select the "Camera Assistant Software" program located under the "Program Files" folder accessed by opening your computer "Start" menu.
  • Step 2View the configuration options available for your built in webcam and microphone. In order to use the webcam you will need to use a video chat service such as Yahoo Instant Messenger, AOL IM, or Google Video Chat.
  • Step 3Open your Instant Messaging (IM) program by double clicking the program icon on your computer desktop. If you do not have an instant messaging service, you can sign up for a service from Yahoo, AOL, or Google through the URLs included in the resource section of this article. For Yahoo and AOL, you can download and install IM software to use with your laptop webcam on your computer.
  • Step 4Sign in to your IM service. Then, select the "My Webcam" icon on the application menu to enable video chat in the service. When the webcam is enabled, others will be able to see and here you when conducting a video chat session on your computer.

When I go on to the Wizard to test my LifeCam my picture is very clear but it tells me that my speakers need to be closer. I have two types of headsets...one with a boom on it to speak and the other just...

This pertains to the distance to the microphone, and should not have anything to do with the speakers and headset. The 14 inches should be fine, but maybe you need to adjust the input level of the microphone or turn on the microphone boost to get sufficient volume. For Vista you can have a look at this sound recording troubleshooting. For XP it is very similar.
