Question about Altec Lansing AVS 500 Computer Speakers
I need assistance figuring out what to do with my altec lansing speakers. They are AVX500 - and the subwoofer began making a weird noise a week ago. I have unplugged everything and have tried to replug everything in with no success. The weird noise even happens when I plug in the ac/dc on its own - not even connected to the computer at all! Does this indicate a bad subwoofer, bad ac/dc transformer - or what?? I don't even know if my sound card has anything to do with this. Please help if you can! Thank you very much!
It sounds like the subwoofer speaker has blown. If you are comfortable working with a soldering iron and speakers then you can open the case and replace the speaker with a replacement subwoofer speaker. A good online store for replacement speakers is PartsExpress.com
