My Philips Htl2160 soundbar just quit working after I tried to upgrade the firmware! It won't light up that it's getting power! I disconnected everything and reconnected, but still nothing! Any ideas?

Updating firmware is dangerous as it configures the part before the software loads. If the firmware update fails or the power cuts it renders the item inoperable as you have found. You will have contact Phillips for either a replacement unit or for a zipped firmware file to reload again.

Force the Upgrade of your SKY + firmware at the touch of a button

This applies to all PVR2 and PVR3 Amstrad. Pace and Thompson SKY+ units you Sky installer may do this for your it is simple to do;

the TV and SKY+ will look like this during the upgrade please do not power down during this time as you will almost certainly kill your unit I always connect my Belkin UPS prior to a forced upgrade just to make sure it is always best to make sure that it will not fail during this process.

Notice that the lights on the unit this one is a PACE type PVR2 the REMOTE MESSAGE and ONLINE LED's are all illuminated as well as the POWER.

I had an old PACE box that had been used for the last 8 years that was still at v5.04d given to me last month I forced the upgrade and it took it to the latest version v5.07u this may not sound that important but there are some firmware versions especially for the AMSTRAD PVR2 unit that will cause audio lag and loss on certain channels (Virgin1, CN and CH4).

After the upgrade has completed I suggest that you check which version of software your unit is now using;

1.Press the Services button
2.System Setup menu
3.Press Option 5, 'System Details'

This shows the same unit 9F2106 before and after the upgrade the smudged info is the viewing card number etc.

Stuck DVDs

i put in a DVD yesterday and it got stuck in the machine. no mtter what i did, it wouldn't eject. it just said "No Disc". I read all the posts here and everywhere on the net. none of them worked (Stop +2-5-9), eject right after powering up. So, i called Phillips and the guy told me to unplug the machine and wait at least 5 minutes. then plug it back in, and HOLD the power button down for at least 30 seconds. after about 20 seconds it will flash some stuff on the little screen. keep holding the button. then push eject button. AND IT WORKED. the disc ejected. Now i am going to upgrade the firmware. i let the phillips guy know that they should be embarassed to have sold this unit. i am anxious to see if the firmware upgrade will fix this issue. the download for the firmware can be found at search for the unit (HTS6500) under support link on top. at least i know now that i can get a disc out if its stuck.

DAV DZ100 - Not working

2 options comes in my mind...
Put software upgrading CD manually in player and let it finish software upgrade process.
If this trick doesn't work, you need to replace digital process board or need to replace on board ROM, if you can.
let me know if you need further info.
