Call Microsoft.

Are you talking about registering (COA) or activation (registration key code)? The 2 are different.

What brand of computer? Is it a legal copy of XP?

What happened that you needed to re-install Windows?

Did this come on a WinXP disc, or did Windows come preinstalled on the computer? If you lost the CD Key, you're going to have to call Microsoft tech support to get a key to activate it.

Cannot validate COA XP Pro as Microsoft it is not genuine but have genuine COA on Computer

Does your computer not have a COA sticker on the side of it (desktop), or on the bottom of it (notebook)?

Lost disk windows xp pro

Borrow one from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker. Just make sure it is the same version as the one on your computer. Look on the side of your case for the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker. It will tell you which operating system you have and it will show you the Product Key Code (series of 5 letters and numbers). You will need the exact same version of Windows that is on your COA Sticker, otherwise you will not be able to activate it.

When it ask for the Product key try the key that is on your computer, sometimes it wants the key that is on the CD you use to install, so get the key from whoever you borrow the cd from.

Can i reset a Dell Precision 360 to factory without disks ?

Swapping disks that run on a different system will not work unless the systems are exactly alike (manufacturer's make and model).

Your best bet is to reinstall the operating system if you can read the Product Key Code (series of 5 letters and numbers) on the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker on the computer. You have to reinstall using the same version of the operating system. If the COA says Windows XP Pro, then you need to reinstall with a Windows XP Pro operating system disk otherwise when it comes time to activate and put in the product key code you'll have issues and it will never activate.

How to clean out and reinstall acer 6070 desktop

If you are talking about reinstalling windows it will clean out the old version for you. It will also remove all your data, documents, music, pictures, videos and programs. It will do a fresh install of the operating system.

You'll need an operating system disk that is the same version as the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker that is affixed to your computer. If your COA Sticker says Windows Vista Home Premium, you cannot use an operating system disk that says Vista Home Basic. If they don't match, when it comes time to activate windows it will not work. When you activate windows and it asks for your Key Code use the series of 5 letters and numbers that are on your COA Sticker not the one from the cd you used to install because you might have borrowed the cd.

How do I do a clean reinstall

You just need a Windows Operating System Disc. It will walk you through the process. When it comes to the part where it see that you already have a windows operating system on the drive, you have the option of deleting it and clearing the partion then reformat the drive using NTFS Quick.
Make sure you use the same version of the windows operating system that you already have unless you buy a new copy. In other words, if your Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker (located on the case of the computer) says you have Windows XP Professional, you can't reinstall with a Windows XP Home version because when it comes to the point where it asks you for the key to activate you will be in trouble.

I need a key for my windows vista home basic. can anybody help me. mail to : esperra@hotmail.com

If your computer is a brand-name PC, then a sticker with your license number (known as a COA or Certificate Of Authenticity) should be attached somewhere on the computer.

If you don't have the COA attached to the computer, restoring the computer using the manufacturer's CD/DVD's will restore Windows to an activated state.

If the computer is running Vista Basic but you lost the key, then download Magic Jelly Bean Key Finder here:

My 30 day free trial is up and my product key never worked...it s

Is this a windows product key? It should be afixed on the bottom of the laptop. If someone sold you a laptop with no COA (certificate of authenticity) then that individual broke the law. Windows XP has to be activated in order to use. After the 30 trial period, it will lock you out until it is activated. If it is telling you you have the wrong product key, you can call to activate. But, if you don't have a product key, you will need to either buy one or install a distro of linux.
