Call Microsoft.

Are you talking about registering (COA) or activation (registration key code)? The 2 are different.

What brand of computer? Is it a legal copy of XP?

What happened that you needed to re-install Windows?

Did this come on a WinXP disc, or did Windows come preinstalled on the computer? If you lost the CD Key, you're going to have to call Microsoft tech support to get a key to activate it.

Can i reset a Dell Precision 360 to factory without disks ?

Swapping disks that run on a different system will not work unless the systems are exactly alike (manufacturer's make and model).

Your best bet is to reinstall the operating system if you can read the Product Key Code (series of 5 letters and numbers) on the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker on the computer. You have to reinstall using the same version of the operating system. If the COA says Windows XP Pro, then you need to reinstall with a Windows XP Pro operating system disk otherwise when it comes time to activate and put in the product key code you'll have issues and it will never activate.

I need Product Key of my PC

Did you have Windows XP Professional on your laptop before you downloaded it from the internet? If not, that's your first problem.

When you reinstall or download a operating system you must use the one that is on the Certificate Of Authentication (COA) Sticker on the bottom of your laptop or inside the battery case. That's your key on it (the series of 5 letters and numbers).

If you use someone else's disk to install or download like you did you must make sure that it is the same operating system as yours. In other words, if your COA says Windows XP Home, then you can't install Windows XP Professional because when it comes time to activate it will fail.

Borrow a operating system disk that is the same as your COA from neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and reinstall windows. When it asks for the key, use the key that is on your COA Sticker then it will activate.

If you have to take it to a computer repair shop they should install the operating system for $60 or less if you have a valid COA Sticker.

Toshiba laptop serial NO 76110651Q

Check the bottom of the laptop for a Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker which will tell what version of Windows XP it had and the Key Code (a series of 5 letters and numbers). If you have a copy of windows xp that is the exact same version as on the COA then you can install it and put in your keycode when requested and activate it. If your COA says Windows XP Professional you cannot use a Windows XP Home operating disk to reinstall.

How to install xp on acer laptop

You'll need a windows xp operating system disk. If you already have windows xp on the Acer then check the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker to see what version of windows xp it has. You'll have to have an operating system disk with the same version otherwise once it asks for the key to activate windows it will not activate. For Example, if your COA says Windows XP Professional you cannot install a Windows XP Home version unless you purchased the Home Version and the COA Key has never been used.

Insert the disk in the drive and just follow the instructions. It's pretty straight forward and simple.

Your screen probably is dark and has the Windows Genuine Advantage message. You may need to reinstall a genuine windows software to resolve this, but in the mean time you can remove windows genuine advantage message by installing RemoveWGA 1.2. Go to this site http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/RemoveWGA.shtml
to download it. Install it and you will have your computer running well again.

Google freeware program called Key Finder. May work, lost sticker on computer once and downloaded this and it gave me the key when I clicked on it . Of course you will have to download
Windows disk first and then load Key Finder. Would burn on CD before you load Windows. Worth a shot.

Activation key

If you call Microsoft and give them an explanation and your COA they will issue you a code to input that will get you around it. They will ask how many machines your COA is installed on. Just say "one" and you'll be fine.

The screen should have a phone number to call. It varies by the location that you select. So, I can't look up the number for you. Good luck!!
