Ford Fiesta IPod connection problem

I have just bought a new model fiesta and have connected my IPod via the USB port. Everything seems to connect and set up correctly, playlists etc on the car display, but no volume? Can you help?

I have the same problem with a new ford focus and the ipod nano. No solution yet

Thanks, I have just checked this out on ebay, and yes it does seem like I need a specific cable. However, I think that I can probably use the USB connector that I have with the ipod and also an AUX cable as that is basically what the ford cable seems to be. I will give that a go first.

I have purchased the appropriate cable from Ford to connect my ipod to my new Ford Fiesta and there is still no volume. Am I doing something wrong here?

I have a new Ford Fiesta with an MP3 connection - I plug in the USB cord to the Ford but there is no sounds. There seems to be an audio socket next to the USB one. What cable do I need to go into this?

Hi, i am having the same problem - (when i connect my ipod using the usb cable i use when connecting to the computer), it shows the songs etc on the car display but there is no sound. Does anyone know if buying a different cable works?

I have same problem. does getting a diff cable work?

  • lisa_dover Feb 24, 2009

I did try the usb Ipod cable again and used the aux cable as well. This seems to work fine now and saves spending £19 on the ford cable. The aux cable i already had, but only cost a couple of quid to buy.

(silly me), by using the aux socket when you plug in your iphone/ipod,

You need the specific cable from Ford, part number 8M5J-19C142-AA, Finis: 1529487 which has a USB and an aux jack. It costs about £19. You need to plug in both aux and USB and then connect the other end to your ipod. You can then scroll through the playlists etc using the dashboard controls. When you have selected your choice, press the OK button and the ipod should play. You can use the steering wheel controls to move forward or back through the tracks and to change the volume. The instructions in the handbook are not very helpful.

Hi, Have you got the correct cable - it's my understanding that you need a specific cable - this link on ebay takes you to a ford main dealer who is selling them online.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have two ford fiestas and you do not need the split cable, its just a money making thing. I have had my ford for 2 years and use only the USB connection in the car to my iphone and get sound.

What do you think the problem is as to why my ipod want load up,i keep getting the message ipod communication aborted.

bad receiver in the radio, or, the transmitter on the ipod is bad. try it on another bluetooth source to see if it maintains connection, if not, the ipod could be damaged or bad. If it works with another bluetooth source unit, then the radio has a bluetooth receiver issue.

Fm works, am does not

Check the antenna connection. A poor connection will often be good enough for FM but make AM reception so bad the the radios auto-gain circuits will mute the output unlike old AMs that would just produce loud static in poor signal conditions.

Lightning audio b150.2 as soon as +12 is hooked up blows 25 amp fuse and the c2 1000uf/35v capacitors blow???????

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty. Double check all connections .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you.

RCA CABLES

RCA cables are the best way to get the audio from your head unit to the amp. If your head unit doesn't have RCA outputs, you might be able to use the speaker outputs of the head unit to connect to the "high power" or "high level" inputs of the amp, if the amp has such inputs (check your manual).
