Ice Maker makes no ice even though I have water from the door dipenser. I took off the front cover and the dial does not move at all. I took the module apart and ran 120V. to the motor and it runs. There seems to be no power to the module. Incidentally the ice maker quite after the water was shut off in the neighborhood for a day. Probably not related huh? Thank you.
I had a 6 month old kenmore/whirlpool from sears, ice machine went..it was the auto defrost wasnt working and everything froze up including the water line or it may have been the heating element on the ice machine wouldnt heat up and allow the ice to dispence..anyway it was the control panel that the technician replaced with a new revised unit, now my door water dispenser just went..i think its plugged as the solenoids seem to making noise like theyre working
POSSIBLE YOU HAVE 2 SEPERATE WATER SOLENOIDS. THE SOLENOID FOR THE ICE MACHINE HAS A STRAINER AND ORFICE JUST INSIDE THE INLET SIDE OF THE WATER CONNECTION. CAREFULLY REMOVE THE ASSEMBLY AND CLEAN-IT. YOU CAN CHECK IF ICE MACHINE SOLENOID HAS POWER BY TAKING A METAL BUTTER KNIFE AND HOLDING IT JUST ABOVE THE COIL ... THE MAGNETIC FORCE SHOULD BE FELT TUGGING THE BLADE DOWN. LOSSEN THE NUT ON THE OUT-LRT SIDE OF THE ICE MACH. SOLENOID AND SEE IF YOU HAVE WATER ...

SOME MANUFACTUTE MAY BE MAKING APPLIANCES FOR LETS SY SEARS, J.C PENNY, K-MART, ETC. THIS IS WHEN MODEL NUMBERS DONT MATCH UP. TRY GOING (IF KNOWN) TO THE STORE WERE YOU PURCHASED YOUR APPLIANCE ... (MOST HAVE ON-LINE SUPPORT) AND TRY GIVING THEM THE NUMBER YOU HAVE.

Replaced water filter, ice maker no longer working
On a whirlpool side by side i get water from the door but no ice. i put power to both sides of the selinoid and it worked fine. it acts like what ever askes for the water to the ice maker is not working. it will despense ice fine if you put ice in the bin.

Thank you inadvance for this possible solution. I will try it this weekend. The reason i'm responding before I try this is that maybe you can tell me why I cannot locate the correct model for my refrigerator on the internet. It is really a whirlpool model number EDZFHEXNQOO Side-by-side. I have tried and tried to locate it with no luck.
Sorry!! These old eyes misread the Model No. it is ED2FHEXNQOO I mistook the 2 for a Z. Anyway I located the two solenoids and they seem to be O.K. as I ran 110 to them and they both produced water. I may have to call one of your expert buddies to find the problem.

This is really bizzare! The repairman came here Three times. 1st he said the gearbox was broken so he replaced the ice maker ($150.00).
Fine. It puts out one tray of ice and stops. 2nd time out he replaces the 2nd icetray with a third. 3rd time out he says the wiring to the heating element is burnt inside the wall of the refrigerator and he can do nothing. He puts the original unit back in and credits the ice maker ($115.00). I sill have no ice. I called the maker(Whirlpool) and they can tell me nothing because the refrigerator is almost two years old and has past warranty. Is all this possible?????
